Last minute booking at this hotel and was very pleased with the service received. Arrived and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was a mind of information about the area. The room was in a quiet location and was clean and tidy. Great location and easily walkable to the CBD through Hagley Park.

We've been here for a couple of nights. We found a normal hotel with nothing particular. Unluckily it isn't very close to the town centre. Other negative aspects are: room at second floor without lift (not good with a big suitcase) and wifi very very slow.

Dear Paolo M, Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and have passed your comments onto our Wi-Fi provider to ensure this is working correctly. Arrived at 1am from Sydney with our two daughters. We had to call the manager as reception was closed. She came down immediately and expressed surprise at our late arrival as she was not expecting any guests at such an hour. We told her we had a reservation through our travel agent but she told us the travel agent had... More

Staff were very nice & friendly. Easy to approach. The room was too small, barely walked with luggage. Not too good with security. Our room was on ground floor and anyone can just see what was inside if we have curtain on. Only 1 simple lock on the door. No fan provided. Need a bit of cleaning in the shower... More

Rooms open directly outdoors. If it rains, you get drenched just going for breakfast. Security is limited given anyone can walk straight into the room area. Our room faced the stairs. If the curtains were open, everyone walking past could see what we were doing and what equipment we had in our room. The receptionist was very rude and a... More

This "hotel" is out of the dark ages, with no restaurant and no bar. They only open the bar if a "group"has prebooked. This is a motel with noisy rooms where you can hear your neighbour having a pee. The room we were given smelled so we asked to change. The room we are in now is dirty and needs... More

I was in the city for work for a week. The rooms here are small and cozy. You have everything at walking distance. The lady at the reception was very friendly - Ruchita Parekh. She instantly got a map and helped me with all the nearby places to see and great restaurants to dine at. She even went out of... More

Poor room, heater did not work, no soap, generally a poor room overall, it was clean though. No restaurant, no bar although both are on site. The shower was poor, lighting poor but the young lady that booked me in was lovely and guided me to some suitable places to dine.

The rooms are small. They are clean and tidy and have been modernised but still not up to the rest of the Mainstay Hotel Group standard. I was dissapointed and didn't feel like I wanted to stay here. They advertise a restaurant yet it appeared to be shut in the morning when I wanted breakfast and no menu for it... More

Arrived late at night into Christchurch and this was perfect for us. No hassle with late check-in (arranged prior to arrival). Rooms although on the small side were great value, very comfortable, modern and cozy. Great range of restaurants for breakfast and close to great shopping. No problems with noise but inner city noise never bothered me anyway. Friendly reception... More
