We had the level 1 room which probably costs a little more. Big room with basic facilities, kettle, sink and fridge in room. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate packets provided. Tina is very friendly and helpful with directions and booking of a city tour of Christchurch and taxis. Wi-Fi is free and generous which was a bonus. There is a... More

Arrived to this hotel at the start of the recent "hundred year flood" so spent more time than anticipated in the room itself. The accommodation was quite dated but clean. Bed was OK. My husband got a knot on his leg when he slipped trying to get into the high-sided tub, so be aware. Water pressure was great. No kitchen... More

Drove into Christchurch after a long drive from Westport. Stopped in at the first motel I came to after driving through the city. The receptionist told me that there weren't too many motels in Christchurch any more, and most were fully booked due to community events. So I took what I could. Mistake no 1. Horrible hot room, no ventilation... More

The hotel has probably not been renovated since the 1960s or 1970s. It was very dated and there were cobwebs in several corners. The shower head was very low... I'm 5'10 (1m80) and I had to crouch down to use it. The bed was ok... a tad springy but it came with an electric blanket which was a nice touch.... More

Nice clean tidy rooms for your stay away from home, perhaps getting a little dated but value for money it's excellent handy to many pubs and restaurants with the added bonus of being attached to the Strawberry Fare Restaurant, desert not to be missed.

Just spent three nights in Christchurch - better than a motel, good food and drink nearby, quiet and comfortable room, helpful staff. What more could you want. The restaurant out fron is very good for breakfast (and has a great reputation for desserts)

This is one of the better priced accomodation in Christchurch as 4 of us were travelling together. The Strawberryfare restaurant is the main reason why we chose this hotel and there is a nearby Hagley park where we can take a walk. This is a cozy place to stay for a night in Spring. The rooms are adequate with electric... More

Stayed at this hotel during a roundtrip throught new zealand. The rooms are equiped with a kitchen, so it's nice for people who want to save money and make their own food. The hotel is right on the main road, and is about a 30 min walk of what remains of the center of Christchurch

I stayed in a one bedroom suite with my adult daughter, for 3 nights. The hotel was conveniently located, within easy driving distance of the airport and only a 10 to 15 minute walk along the border of Hagley Park to the Canterbury Museum and the Botanical Gardens. The suite had a separate entrance to the rest of the rooms,... More

Chose The Carlton Mill Hotel, Bealey Ave, near Hagley Park. A great stay, lovely big room, and a short walk to Papanui Rd, to shops and restaurants. Walked into the CBD area as well, which was about 15 mins or so. Free wi-fi, newly carpeted, enjoyed breakfast at Strawberry Fare Restaurant on the premises. Friendly staff, we were impressed!
