We had heard a lot about Otahuna Lodge as it has been featured in a number of high end magazines over the last year, and wanted to see whether it lived up to its expectations. The answer is a resounding yes! From the minute you pull up at the imposing gates, you know you are in for a special experience.... more

A required stop for any visit to New Zealand. Alas, I recommend stopping by Otahuna as your last stop rather than your first, as all other properties pale in comparison. Owners Hall Cannon and Miles Refo have lovingly refurbished the lodge in excruciating detail. From the accomodations to the food to the staff to the environs, it does not get... more

We spent our honeymoon in Australia and New Zealand and can safely say that the Otahuna Lodge stands out amongst a long list of amazing experiences. From the moment we were picked up at the airport by a friendly, suited driver, we felt like our every desire was being anticipated. The lodge is beautiful, and the staff make you feel... more

Otahuna Lodge was by far the most manificent place we stayed while in New Zealand. You get the impression that the staff and owners of the Lodge have considered every detail of your stay to make it as effortless and enjoyable as possible; right from the first enquiry nothing seems to be too much trouble. We learnt during our stay... more

Recently visited South Island for the first time and the high point was a truly memorable visit to Otahuna Lodge. Wished we could have stayed much longer: we were made to feel completely at home and that's exactly what Otahuna feels like - your own home (I wish!). Chef Jimmy's food is fabulous and it was such a treat to... more

We were fortunate enough during our recent trip to have stayed in some lovely places, including several of NZ’s best luxury lodges. Otahuna Lodge surpasses them all. Otahuna has recently changed ownership, but has been further refurbished and looked to us to be better than ever. The whole process was seamless. We were there to celebrate a milestone birthday, and... more

Would highly recommend this incredibly beautiful former home that is now a small luxury lodge. While it is not directly in Christchurch, the experience far surpasses the 20 minute drive into the city. The immense grounds and gardens are exquisite and the lodge is so finely detailed that we felt like we were staying in a private residence. The food... more

Of the many lodges we've stayed in, in NZ and elsewhere, nothing even comes close to Otahuna. Its not just the elegant surroundings nor the peaceful and luxurious setting. Its not just the sumptuous, warm, luxurious yet relaxing guest rooms, its not just the sensational cuisine. What really sets this place apart is the personal touch. Greg and Julie Leniston... more

We spent our first and last nights at Otahuna on a recent trip to NZ, during which we stayed at some fabulous places, including the spectacularly located Blanket Bay in Glenorchy. However, Otahuna is where we will return, as soon as we possibly can. Otahuna is a gorgeously restored manor house, beautifully and luxuriously decorated in keeping with its era... more
