Perfect place for getting over jet lag, with a lovely homely atmosphere. Unlike lots of other hostels the old country house has full size beds with proper big bouncy mattresses, duvet covers and central heating as well as extra blankets and hot water bottles if needed. It is beautifully clean with nice hot showers and all you need in the... More

Our stay here was awesome. Like all hostels basically, it is not located close to the city center. But easy to find. The staff was really friendly! Helped us a lot and we felt comfortable straight away. The hostel has got a nice outside area in the middle, the Spa pool and sauna was exactly what we needed that night... More

This is definitely one of the better hostels that I've stayed at in NZ. It's a bit of a walk getting to the city centre but due to all the construction going on at the moment it might be better to stay in a suburb instead. I really liked the overall atmosphere of the hostel and it's easy to meet... More

We stayed here as a couple in March 2014. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm as well as a private room . The hostel has a nice peaceful , relaxed feel with the rooms being organised into different houses. Free wifi throughout. The kitchens are large and well equipped. Agree with other reviews about the reception staff they were... More

We had a double room and felt very at home here for our whole stay. Our room got quite hot at night, but I'd prefer that to being too cold so didn't mind too much! The kitchen is very well equipped and tidy. The wifi is free and they supply free tea and coffee which is a lovely touch. They... More

I came for the first time in the hostel in the end of January, and at the end I came along a lot of times, I fell in "love" with the place... The staff was so helpful and the receptionists were lovely. The owners of the place are very nice and have really made something beautiful out of it. If... More

We stayed here for four nights at the end of June - we booked a private double room with shared facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, the room was comfortable and warm, facilities clean and spacious for the number of people staying in our house. We had no problems with noise which was fantastic, plenty of hot water and... More

Omg finally found a hostel with heating and totally loved it. The spa and sauna were really nice plus they gave me free wifi and cool room mates that didn't snore. The city is still a little sad but I hope they get it fixed soon as it could be so cool in the future as a place to visit.

This place is still excellent on my second visit, The lady on the desk was super helpful with all my questions and pointing me in the direction of a great pub for the evening. I will return no doubt in the future.

This hostel is very clean and well presented, perhaps the nicest hostel I have ever stayed. It is a little dearer than their counterparts in the city but well worth the extra few dollars. I choose this hostel because it had free parking. There isa lovely big garden and also a free spa pool and sauna area. It was cold... More
