Stayed 1 night here, reception is really helpful and attentive. There is 2 kitchen and garden with picnic table, quiet so it suit who need a good sleep, about 10 minutes walk to intercity bus station. The only complaint is the blanket is smelly.

Dear Paigekho, Thank you very much for your review. We're very happy to hear that you found our manager helpful and our accommodation quiet. We're disappointed to hear that the feather duvet was smelly. Fresh, clean linen is always provided for every new guest, we are now checking the duvets to find out which one needs to go to the... My partner and I stayed here twice, once at the beginning of our travels in December, and once at the end of our travels in May. We love Foley Towers: helpful and friendly staff, cozy lounge, GREAT garden and outdoor area, comfortable bed, lots of free stuff that travelers have left behind (I got a hair dryer, I left a... We were surprised how spacious this place was, unusual for a city hostel. There is a large garden area with picnic tables, and two big kitchens and seating areas. Our ensuite room was a reasonable size, the bed was very comfy and the shower was hot and fairly powerful. We thought the price was good value. Staff are friendly and... More

I stayed at Foley's for 2 nights in a 3 bed dorm. The garden is really nice and the location is good. Unfortunately, the next supermarket is a 20 minutes walk away. The staff is friendly and helpful. The intercity bus station is just around the corner and the city centre with its main attractions , too.

Foley Towers offers a pleasant location on the outskirts of the central business district but only a 15-20 min walk to Cathedral Square and on to the park & Christchurch museum. Christchurch is still recovering from major earthquakes in 2010 and 2011, but is still a pleasant town to visit. The hostel itself is clean and well maintained. The staff... More

Thank you very much for your lovely detailed review of Foley Towers. Next time you come to stay you can ask for a towel at reception : ) Don't be afraid to come back in the winter, we have underfloor heating in almost every room and of course hot-water bottles and extra blankets if you'd like them. There are heat-pumps... More

We only stayed here one night... but we really liked our double room with ensuite shower. It was clean, and comfortable bed. Our room looked onto a gardened courtyard. The flowers in this garden were gorgeous and the garden obviously cared for with love. Had the weather been better and we been there longer I would have liked to appreciate... More

We spent our last night in NZ at Foley Towers. There was only an uncomfortable bed in the pretty dark room. At least the room was en suite, which upgraded it a little bit. The kitchens are ok. Spacious, clean and well equipped. The common rooms were pretty uncomfortable but maybe they change that as I think they were renovating.... More

Few weeks ago I met an old couple from Europe travelling since ages and I was shocked when they said they've always travelled by hostels in NZ because they are so nice. You'll see they told me. Well they were right! Formed by bungalows surrounded by beautiful gardens, two big kitchens, wood bunk beds. Probably the best hostel I ever... More

While it had been 17 years between visits to Foley Towers for my wife and I it's still great. The best part was the young english guy up front. New BBQ to use and still a nice court yard for gathering if that's your thing. Kitchen was stocked well enough and lots of space to prep your meals. Relaxing nooks... More

I was surprised by the lovely grounds and gardens at Foley Towers, someone obviously spends a lot of time on these, and they create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, its like stepping off a city street and into a semi rural setting. We were in a twin room with ensuite which was functional with 2 beds and desk and bedside... More
