Foley Towers offers a pleasant location on the outskirts of the central business district but only a 15-20 min walk to Cathedral Square and on to the park & Christchurch museum. Christchurch is still recovering from major earthquakes in 2010 and 2011, but is still a pleasant town to visit. The hostel itself is clean and well maintained. The staff... More

We only stayed here one night... but we really liked our double room with ensuite shower. It was clean, and comfortable bed. Our room looked onto a gardened courtyard. The flowers in this garden were gorgeous and the garden obviously cared for with love. Had the weather been better and we been there longer I would have liked to appreciate... More

We spent our last night in NZ at Foley Towers. There was only an uncomfortable bed in the pretty dark room. At least the room was en suite, which upgraded it a little bit. The kitchens are ok. Spacious, clean and well equipped. The common rooms were pretty uncomfortable but maybe they change that as I think they were renovating.... More

Few weeks ago I met an old couple from Europe travelling since ages and I was shocked when they said they've always travelled by hostels in NZ because they are so nice. You'll see they told me. Well they were right! Formed by bungalows surrounded by beautiful gardens, two big kitchens, wood bunk beds. Probably the best hostel I ever... More

While it had been 17 years between visits to Foley Towers for my wife and I it's still great. The best part was the young english guy up front. New BBQ to use and still a nice court yard for gathering if that's your thing. Kitchen was stocked well enough and lots of space to prep your meals. Relaxing nooks... More

I was surprised by the lovely grounds and gardens at Foley Towers, someone obviously spends a lot of time on these, and they create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, its like stepping off a city street and into a semi rural setting. We were in a twin room with ensuite which was functional with 2 beds and desk and bedside... More

Run by a lovely couple, Rory and Jemma, lovely room, nice space and very clean. Good location, really helpful, decent toilet and shower. The communal area was decent - tv room, free games, good kitchen. Seemed to be universally liked by others too.

Clean, cosy and nice place The hostel provides big dining area, kitchen, and reading room. Any backpacker who wanted to stay more than 1 month has to move out for a week in order to make the room is under maintenance - CLEAN. This is a good control !

I stayed at Foley's 2 month last year and 3 month this year. The staff has always been fantastic and keeps the place as it should be: Clean and tidy. I've stayed in several rooms and have never been disappointed. For not being a party hostel the parties in Foley's are great. Many guitars and lots of funny people. The... More

We stayed here 1 night. The hostel is located at the edge of the center which is just a 10 minute walk away.We had a nice double room with a good bed and clean bathroom. There is also a nice garden where one can sit and relax. The common rooms are nice and the 2 kitchens are well equiped. Tip:... More
