Small Hotel with only 12 rooms, but all, very comfortably furnished. Small dining room but excellent quality. Guests are invited to a complimentary drinks reception each evening where everyone is encouraged to mix and as most are travellers rather than commercial guests it is a very good way to get other people's first hand recommendations for restaurants in the Area... more

We had booked the honeymoon suite as the first destination on arriving in New Zealand. They had given the room away and this didn't even warrant an apology! Some staff were lovely, others apathetic. In general found the hotel more suitable to elderly people - like a wealthy old folks home, expensive but dull. more

Lovely hotel, but restaurant was very disappointing and over priced. The Charlotte Jane is a charming place. Each room is different and all are large with nice bathroom facilities. The furnishings are interesting , if a bit fussy for my taste--such as lacy cloth coverings for the extra roll of toilet paper in the bath. The kitchen facilities for private use were really good and I was happy to have a selection of movies to choose from as my husband's flight did not make it in.
