This is the greatest, most pathetic excuse of a 5-Star Bed & Breakfast ever. I have *never* written anything poor about a place I've stayed but this B&B has inspired me! Prior to traveling, anywhere, I spend tremendous time researching hotels in the cities where I will be staying. I felt that for the 5 stars it received would completely... more

1.There was no dinner included in your Special package. The package was stay 3 nights in a delux room and get an upgrade to a suite. 2.. There is a night store system in all rooms, a wall heater and fireplace. 3 different types of heating systems. 3. No staff member has ever said to any guests that the restaurant...

We booked this hotel as something special at the end of our honeymoon. Whilst we enjoyed our stay and felt it was a good hotel, it wasn't quite what we expected given its website and the reviews we read. The best bits were the building and rooms which had some interesting history and were uniquely decorated. And the hot tub... more

Rajesh, the manager, assures his guests will be very satisfied with this large, well located B and B. The rooms were well appointed, big and comfortable. The breakfasts offered a wide variety, and were served by delightful young Brasilian girls. We also enjoyed an excellent dinner in the restaurant. Altogether, a service oriented operation. more

Disliked this hotel and cannot believe that it has a 5 star rating. Not well maintained nor run, worst breakfasts on month long trip, dirty bathroom, cleanliness of linens was questionable, no real shower with enclosure, the potpourri in the room was overpowering and nauseating. Noisy location. more

Stayed here for two separate 2 night stays in February. Comfortable old house with large, well appointed (if a little creaky) rooms. Very friendly staff. Excellent restaurant, at which we ate dinner on two nights. Good choice of main courses, but highly recommended that you choose the curry if there is one on - the Indian chefs are excellent. Free... more

In all the reviews I've done for Tripadvisor, I have only given one "Excellent" ranking before. (That was to Tokyo's Palace Hotel, which is now undergoing renovations unfortunately). As it turns out, I was there nearly a week. The Charlotte Jane's Indian-led staff was attentive, sensitive and very efficient. The internet service is excellent and reasonably priced ($NA 25 per... more

The Charlotte Jane is a beautiful old property close to Christchurch CBD (15+ minute walk) with period furnishings and massive rooms (ours anyway). The staff try very hard to make you feel comfortable and are very responsive to queries or questions. The room was very comfortable but a bit tired. The bath large but with a shower set up that... more

At first blush, the Charlotte Jane seemed very nice. Our room was very large - a king bed, dining area, sitting area and the biggest bathroom I think I have ever seen. Nice big spa tub. There were also nice gardens all around the property. However, our room faced the busy street, so it was a bit noisy. That was... more
