The Hambledon was easy to find with it being our first time in Christchurch. We could park the hire car and enjoy the sights of Christchurch on foot. Our welcome from Claire was friendly and she helped us with the booking of our sightseeing trips. The Hambledon itself oozes character and the Toby Jug collection was simply wonderful. Staying at... We stayed for 5 days at this delightful B&B over Christmas and felt thoroughly well taken care of by our gracious, helpful and engaging host, Brent. The breakfasts were delicious and pleasingly different every day. it was a very nice experience to step back in time and enjoy a beautiful old mansion full of antiques, interesting objects and lots of... We had a delightful time in ChristChurch. We were able to walk to all the places we wanted to visit. The hospitality offered by our host at the Hambledon, reminded me of the Southern Hospitality found in our home country, USA. Scarlet O'Hara would have felt right at home. The home is beautiful. Carry on Brent!

Our party stayed 3 wonderful nights in Christchurch with Brent and Claire Smith our wonderful hosts at Hambledon B&B. Lovely hosts. Great location and superb hosts. Gave us great ideas for sight seeing and resturants. Know the area extremely well. Would definitely stay again when we come back....I hope soon. Clay Parcells

The owners were exceptionally pleasant, informative and helpful. Rooms were large, everything was clean and well maintained. The garden was very nice and the food delicious. Location was good - 15 minute walk to the cathedral. The appointments, books and pictures were terrific. We will try to rebook the next time we are in Christchurch.

...you'd feel the way you might while staying at the Hambledon. As others have pointed out, it's a mid-19th century mansion, one of the early prestige residences in Christchurch. The rooms are large and luxurious. It's a perfect place to stay if you're starting a trip to NZ and want to get that long flight behind you, because it's quiet,... More

I have stayed in several historic homes in New Zealand. This one rates very high because of the exemplary help from Brent and Claire who could not do enough to ensure my comfort. As well as the beautiful surroundings the introductions to fellow travellers made the stay at Hambledon very memorable. Without a car and in scorching heat I found... More

We stayed at this great estate for one night right after New Year 2008/09. We did not expect to stay in Christchurch, but the weather on the West Coast forced us to stay a day longer. This unexpected stay turned out to be one of the best experiences in New Zealand: The house is a well-maintained historic cottage with spacious... More
