We were only here for one night before flying back to Auckland but i don't think we have stayed in a more luxurious room on the top floor. Beautiful views over the park (where we did a nice walk later on). The dinner was particularly good as well. Service was top notch and room extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend... More

Checked in late in afternoon - reception welcomed me and it was a very efficient Check-in. Gave me information about the function I would be attending next day. On request prior to visit the staff had arranged an appointment for me at local hairdresser - no trouble and had all details emailed to me prior to my arrival and a... More

A wonderful hotel! Great rooms, with big beds, every comfort you wish. Service and amenities are high-end! A relaxing ambience. The bear is welcoming us! Also stunning food in the Pescatore! Before our 32 hours of traveling back home again, a superb last stay!

We checked in and they upgraded us...surprise! The room was heavenly, the bed as well! We ate in the restaurant at the George and the food was delicious, a bit expensive but what isn't?! Although the hotel sits in a busy part of town we didn't have any troubles sleeping.

We stayed in the George for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon trip around New Zealand. We loved the little extra touches - complementary coffee and cakes bought up to our room and the bear on the bed. We treated ourselves to an extensive room service breakfast which was very good. The hotel itself is very nice and the... More

Stayed two nights recently and because we arrived late got a very nice room but with a not very nice room. They spent the rest of our stay they went overboard making it up to us. I liked the teddy bear with a note of apology. Restaurant has great food and the staff couldn't do enough to help us enjoy... More

We are arrived very late on a Saturday night after a delayed flight from Melbourne. Check-in was welcoming and quick. Lovely room, maybe a little too hot, but that was soon fixed with the air-con turned off and a window opened - yay - a window that actually opens! Lovely comfy bed. Fabulous breakfast served by delightfully helpful staff. Directions... More

NZ seems full of incredibly nice folk but the nicest of all are the staff at The George. When they discovered my wife and I were both ill the porter offered us a hot lemon drink of his own special recipe. What a lovely touch! The location - a short walk to the botanical gardens - is very hard to... More

by the excellent service, my junior suite, the standards of service, and my evening meal in the Hotel restaurant. There's a marvellous park to explore, very near, and you can walk into the city centre.Be prepared for seeing earthquake damage, but the clear up is making good progress..

Great hotel to stay. We arrived after midnight. I was worried that late checkin was not available, but we were greeted with bright lobby and smile, everything went smooth. The breakfast was fabulous, so beautifully presented that is no less than a proper meal in a good restaurant. What we love most is the george bear. The most brilliant marketing... More
