They say first impressions last, this unfortunately was the case at check-in. Usually a good experience at the Chateau is the reason that I used them again. We requested a 'family room', which myself and a colleague needed to share. Even if I did have my family with me it would not have been sufficient. Returning to the desk and... More

Christchurch economy was shaken by the recent quake, this is a hotel that has survived the economic fall out of that 'quake so expect things to be a bit tired, the odd, disgruntled waitress in the dining room. What it does offer is lots of space, no cramping in corridors or gardens, staff generally polite and eager to please. Worth... More

The hotel is just on the outskirts of the centre of Christchurch, has good parking and was easy to find directly form the airport. Our welcome at reception was great by Victoria Becham no less! (But not THE one). There is free wifi. Rooms were clean but dated. Breakfast was at best average and service poor. Overall the hotel was... More

The nearness to the CBD is why we chose this place on our return to Christchurch. A walk through Hagley Park has you at the museum. Needs a bit of TLC as getting a bit jaded. First time we stayed had a big flatscreen TV, the 2nd time was a little old TV which should have been thrown out years... More

This is a huge hotel complex with a beautiful interior garden space. We had a good room but the other 2 couples reported that their room was fairly ordinary. There is a lovely park opposite. A ride through Christchurch is recommended to remind how lucky some people have it.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at our hotel. Our hotel is set of 5 acres of landscaped gardens and our gardeners do a fantastic job keeping the moat and gardens looking good. Thank you again. warm regards Dorothy More

Stayed 2 nights. We arrived late at night. We were in a deluxe room. Next morning opened curtains to see the car park on our door step. Not a great view. Furniture old, TV was a small square one that reminded us of the 60's. In bathroom we see water behind toilet. Told the chambermaid to have maintenance fix this.... More

First two nights of our holiday in New Zealand were spent here. Average hotel room with reasonable facilities and helpful staff. Breakfast was not included in the rate but was good value and the restaurant was really pleasant with a view over a lovely garden. Food and service was good. Excellent location across the road from Hagley Park and within... More

Thank you for your kind comments about our hotel and staff. We are very fortunate to be located opposite Hagley Park and I am pleased that you enjoyed our location. I will pass your comments on to our Executive Chef and Restaurant Manager and I am thrilled that you found our staff helpful as that is one of our goals.... More

Ideal spot to explore Christchurch by foot - the centre is about a 20 minute walk across Hagley Park. Hotel has car-parking, a small gym, plus outside pool. The only thing missing was a Concierge service to help book visits.

We stayed for one night before getting the flight back home. This is a pleasant hotel with nice helpful staff. Room was clean and standard. About 30 minutes walk in to town. We had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant.

rooms a bit dated in style. also corporate in feel lacking a real personal touch.however the hotel has lovely gardens with a good pool. Breakfast a broad spread with good fruit selection. Just opposite the park with a comfortable walk into the main town area. Okay place to recover from a long flight, but would have liked a place a... More
