Went to this hotel with family and overseas guests and had a very enjoyable evening. The atmosphere was good and made people watching a pleasure. Lots of interesting patrons here. The meal choice was varied and I chose fish and chips as I looked out over the water through the front window. Inspiration was close by. Service was ok and... More

Dear Pam, Thank you for your time in reviewing us. We think, we're a great place to take overseas visitors as theres precious little in Christchurch that can offer our views. So, we're glad you feel the same way too. Cheers, Kind regards, Jeremy Dyer More

We stayed in Room 1 with the balcony overlooking the harbour. The room was big with tv, open fire and couch. You instantly felt relaxed when you walked in. Shared bathroom facilities, we stayed on a Sunday night and didn't see the other guests. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant which exceeded our expectations - absolutely delicious. The room... Dear Pip, So glad you enjoyed your stay with us and yes, if you're staying on a Sunday night, sometimes you have the whole place to yourselves. Thank you for the rap on our meals as well, it's a nice thing running a "country pub", because we strive to exceed people's expectations and we generally do. Happy travels and we... More

My husband and I enjoyed a night at the Governors Bay Hotel, service was friendly and our room was very comfortable. The highlight was the evening meal and the Peking Duck with mini pancakes was just divine, highly recommend the food as all the courses we had were of an exceptionally high standard.

Dear Truekiwi, Thank you for coming to stay with us. I had to twist our chef's arm to get that Peking Duck on as it's my favourite dish on the planet, so glad you enjoyed it too. Happy travels and thank you for your time in reviewing us. Come and stay again sometime. Kind regards, Jeremy More

A beautiful hotel with a seaside feel. It was beautifully furnished with lovely linen and cosy and warm. The reception team were relaxed and friendly. I would highly recommend visitors to stay at this hotel.

My daughter lives in Sumner, not far from governors bay. We called into this beautiful old hotel for lunch!! The hotel has such a wonderful relaxing feel about it!! The seafood chowder was TDF (to die for) & at $15, was great value!! The stunning views up Lyttleton harbour, the beautiful grounds which are bathed in sunlight, and the wonderful... More

Outside of Christchurch New Zealand at Governor's Bay is the older Historic Hotel. Stunning views of the bay, short walk to water and the bay itself. Great meals, enjoyed the pub located in hotel. Small room I stayed in had balcony looking down to bay. Shared clean bathroom facilities were no problem. I do always travel with Clorox wipes and... More

Dear Jeepngal, So glad you enjoyed your night away with us and thank you for your feedback. Those Clorex wipes come in very handy on trains in Vietnam I can tell you but I'd like to think our standard of cleanliness is somewhat superior to that. All the best, hopefully we'll see you again sometime and in the meantime, happy... More

Took a drive over the hill this morning to see how our daughter's new house in Cass bay was coming along. She said to meet her at the Governers bay Hotel for lunch as it was such a cool place. We walked from the car park, up some steps and into a beautiful out door dining area with an amazing... More

We stayed last minute at this pretty old hotel. Our room was a very small box with not even room for a nightstand to deposit your stuff (shared bathroom). That would have been not so terrible but my side of the bed was kind of slanted so I had a hard time sleeping. Oddly, my husband's side was fine, which... More

Dear PThomas, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you did not have a relaxing sleep with us.
