Lilac Rose is a beautiful property, there is no doubt about it. We chose it as it looked so quaint and offered the boutique feel we love to experience on holiday. Sadly, however pretty it is, to look at, there were many things that detract from its 'boutique' and 'luxury' labels... The Welcome: It's not very easy to spot from... More

Pam and Dennis were fabulous hosts, had tips on places to visit both in Christchurch and beyond. They had bikes we could use to ride to the Botanical Gardens, a hot tub which was lovely in the evening, and delicious breakfast along with great company. We stayed in the attic room which was great with its own bathroom (although not... More

We spent several nights here during our trip to New Zealand. The room we stayed in was wonderful and the owners were very gracious hosts. We were centrally located near restaurants and a bus line to the central business district. Breakfast was a full breakfast and excellent. Would highly recommend staying at this bed and breakfast

I had heard that Kiwis are one of the nicest people in the world. It’s true. Pam and Dennis are so warm and friendly that it felt as if we were visiting our friends. They have a lovely elegant home with an old world charm. We stayed there both while going to Franz Joseph and coming back. We stayed in... More

My husband and I spent three nights at this boutique B&B during our tour of New Zealand. We booked direct with the owners, Pam and Dennis and couldn't have wished for a nicer place to stay. We chose The Garden Room: it was perfect with its own outside verandah looking out onto the garden. It doesn't have an ensuite bathroom,... More

y wife and I just returned from a trip of our lifetime in New Zealand - 7 days in Fiordland, followed by hiking around Mount Cook and a couple days in Christchurch, where we stayed at the Lilac Rose B&B. The gracious hospitality from Pam and Dennis Stevenson proved to us that their B&B is a labor of love, not... More

Thank you to Pam & Denis for the wonderful hospitality they have shown. We have stayed at the Lilac Rose Boutique B & B in April, 2012 & February, 2014. We stayed in the Mulberry room and it so cozy and just love the decor. We were greeted by Abbey, their gorgeous golden retriever at the door, and Tea, Coffee... More

The landscaping was beautiful, the family was wonderful, the bed was comfortable and the location was okay. As others have mentioned the flowers are quite beautiful and really brighten anyone's day as you walk up to the house. Once inside, it's more of an antique older house, but is quickly overlooked by the incredibly kind family. We didn't stay here... More

We went to New-Zealand for 12 days for my wife's birthday, first night I thought we could try a Bed and Breakfast ( first time ever, a change from the resorts and higher end hôtels ). Rested my choice on this one based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, the style of the house and the fact they had a... More

We spent the first night of our honeymoon here and what a perfect way to start. The hosts were happy to advise places to eat/visit, we chose the local Thai restaurant (amazing) We had a great nights sleep and a lovely breakfast in the morning. To sum up the Lilac Rose I would say great hospitality, beautiful place and perfect... More
