The hostel was great. We stayed in a private double with shared bathroom. Clean and tidy with a good bathroom. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Comfortable bed and great for our two nights in Christchurch. Recommend the restaurant Fiddlesticks around the corner. Slightly pricey, but best meal we had on our trip and in a long time.

Location is good if you are taking a coach, which is just around 5-8 minutes walk from the bus stop. Also close to I-site (information centre), the beautiful Hagley Park and museum. It is a new hostel so it is new and modern, and the room I stayed (6-bed dorm) is ensuite and the bathroom was spacious, nice and clean.... More

Out of all the Hostels in Christchurch this is clean, basic, and has a decent kitchen. Some of the staff are marvellous, but.... If you work in any form of work that involves morse stuff don't stay here because 'they' don't want you to stay too long. And like everywhere in Christchurch they have oddballs and wierdoes who do stay... More

Highly recommend if you are looking for budget accommodation for a couple of days that you are in Christchurch, however try their different branch and not the one on Hereford street. They have the worst service and staff! Extremely rude and not concerned at all about you! I have stayed in yhas before all around the world so I know... More

This hostel is well located in a quiet spot of the city, and is maintained by a group of very friendly staff. The room I stayed in had an ensuite bathroom, which was fantastic, and the room was clean and comfortable.

We stayed for two nights at the YHA on Hereford Street only coz we did a whale watch at Kaikora. We got locked out on our return from Kaikora. The key would not work and there was no emergency contact no. We were to leave the next day for Franz Josef and were in a panic. Only the cat and... More

This place is okay. Showers, kitchen, friendly stuff and laundry - everything you need for one night in Christchurch (but don't stay longer in this awful city - was the earthquake yesterday or three years ago). Negative point for this place: It's rediculous that there are now plug-in's in the room and the Wireless is very very slow from time... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at YHA Christchurch for 2 nights after arriving in Christchurch. We stayed in a double ensuite room. The room was pleasant, good size, clean and had tea and coffee making facilities. The kitchen of the hostel was tiny for the amount of guests staying there but the hostel was within walking distance to cafes so... More

This is a humongous hostel that is about a decade ahead of its time as there’s nowhere near enough going on in christchurch to justify its presence. It is very contemporary and clean and well organised although as previous people have commented the lounge area lacks character and energy and most people in there have been 'assimilated by the borg'... The people that stay in this hostel for some reason do not wash up after themselves. The kitchen was a disgrace, the staff need to put up a huge sign over the sinks to remind people of this. I think part of the problem is only having 3 sinks, people pile their pots in there while eating as there is... More
