Michelle and Marcus are your hosts. What a warm and welcoming kiwi couple. They went well out of their way to make our stay as stress free as possible. Location wise it is excellent. Out of town but still close by. Lots to see and do in the area. The cottages are well separate from the main house. The views... More

We arrived days after Michelle and Marcus took over St. Leonards, and you can absolutely tell they are determined to provide a brilliant experience for all guests. We stayed in the stables, and right away we knew it was the right choice for us. The stables back up to the sheep, deer, chickens, and citrus trees. Being animal lovers, we... More

We stayed here on our first night on the South Island and were very well looked after. The new owners took great care to make sure our short stay was comfortable. They provided enough to make our own breakfast including eggs from their own chickens. Very relaxing!

January 2015 stayed two nights in The Cottage. When we arrived we noted that the property was for sale and you could tell the owners were tired and no longer cared about their guests. Our room wasn't ready and the gentleman owner would barely let us into the main house to use the restroom, check in and get his recommendations... More

Thank you for your comments. As the new owners of St Leonards Vineyard Cottages as of 15 April 2015 we to were disappointed to hear of your experience back in JANUARY 2015. The property and grounds are looking great and improvements to the cottages have already begun. Michele and Marcus More

Out of all the places we stayed during our two-week honeymoon in New Zealand, St. Leonard's Cottages might have been our favorite. We stayed in the stables and loved it. It was cozy and inviting. Perhaps because we live in a city where we were from, we enjoyed the rustic feel and felt totally at home. The cottages are self-catered... More

I stayed in Anna's cottage for a week. There was plenty of room and a nice covered porch. The hosts brought fresh eggs from their chickens each day--available only when they are laying! A highlight was the availability of mountain bikes for riding to the nearby wineries or just for exercise. They are in good shape and helmets/vests are also... More

We really enjoyed our three nights in the Stables having the privacy of being surrounded by neighbouring vineyards, the entertainment of watching the free range chickens, the small flock of sheep, the three deer and admiring all the lovely citrus trees. Our stay here was at the end of January and was three weeks in to an eight week holiday... More

As another contributor stated, this property is for sale. It is apparent that the owners have lost the motivation to keep the property as new. During our stay, the weather was good but we didn't dare go into the swimming pool as it didn't look inviting. We stayed at "The Stables" which is quite cosy with a nice view to... More

Thanks for your constructive feedback. I am pleased to report that now we have had some significant rain. Our region has had the worst summer draught for many years.and our grounds can now recover to their former glory. I totally agree with this reviewer, St Leonards does look tired at the moment. It is a difficult decision with our property,... More

We stayed in The Old Dairy for two nights and found it very comfortable, clean and a perfect option in the midst of the wineries. It made a lovely change from hotel accommodation and we appreciated the delicious breakfast supplies. Paul and Daphne were wonderful hosts and although the room is close to their house, we felt we had privacy.... More

We stayed in The Old Diary which is the smallest option onsite however was perfect for our one night stay. Bedroom studio with good kitchen and bathroom facilities. Clean and very charming! Breakfast was provided within the fridge and included bread, choice of jams, butter, milk, eggs. In addition there were tea and cereals. So dependent on breakfast preferences good... More
