If you really need to stopover in Haast on your travels this motel is adequate but needs updating. There is nothing to do in Haast other than eat junk food and walk down the highway. On our South Island road trip this was the least inspiring stop

We stayed here on our way to Fox as a stopover. There isn't much to choose from in Haast but we went with this one. Pros: Functional bathroom and setup for elderly and disabled peoples. Comfortable bed and warm heater. Cons: It was quite a small room. The furnishings were quite outdated. New curtains here, a new microwave there etc.... More

We stayed for one night. We really enjoyed the area. The hostess was friendly, giving us local information and telling us where we might see some dolphins. And we did see one! The room was very comfortable, with everything that you need, and a functional bathroom. Very recommendable.

Stopped in Haast en route from Fox Glacier to Wanaka. The room was spotless but very small with little space to move around or lay suitcases. There was no bedside table on either side; the bathroom and kitchenette were adequate for one night. The motel grounds are very spacious with seating on which to relax over a glass of wine... More

We followed others' recommendations and stayed one night in the lodge- we were not disappointed. Everything was true- a very good studio room (small but well organized to give space for everything) with excellent bed and shower and nice kitchenette. The motel's surrounding looked nicely maintained with a huge loan and a small garden. The motel gave a us a... More

We had a wonderful stay at Haast Blair and Roz were great hosts and made our stay all the better. Our motel was clean and comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone. I hope it will not be to far away that I have the opportunity to have another holiday at Haast.

Stayed here one night, the unit was excellent, a good amount of room, with excellent facilities. It was the only place in the whole of the South Island that had fly screens for the sand flies. For a place in the midle of no where it was excellent with supermarket, petrol station and pub.

On route from Lake Tekapo to Hokitika when we found this place. The owners were nice and friendly but there was nothing at Haast except the local pub which was very "lively" on a Sunday afternoon. This was the first place we encountered sandflies and the nasty bites troubled us for weeks! The studio room was spacious and clean and... More
