Perfect place to get away! Nice quiet area. The chalets were very clean and a lovely older country style, perfect for the setting! The food was amazing! So impressed with the dining experience we had. Well looked after the whole night. The owners were very welcoming and did more than enough to ensure we had a fantastic stay. Would recommend... More

Last weekend I booked 2 night stay for our wedding anniversary. As per instructions on their website, I emailed to ensure we could have dinner in the restaurant both nights, and this was confirmed. On arrival, the room was found not to have been vacuumed, the floors we UN-clean. Also the room was dated. Nothing done to it for past... More

This is the second time I have stayed here and dined here on several occasions. The restaurant is fine dining at its best and food is consistently outstanding. The chalets are comfortable and in the most stunning setting. The ideal place to be far from crowds and noise. We had 4 generations of women in our family celebrating Mother's Day.... More

We had a great stay, fantastic restaurant, Sean and Madeline were great hosts and thanks for lending us a fishing rod. Very close to Lake Camp, awesome area for fishing and boating. Hope to be back soon.

At the foot of Mount Somers off Highway 72 I found this gem with 8 Chalets, each an independent cottage with kitchen, car port, and lush backyard view of the mountain. Perfect for newly weds, but also for anyone who travels NZ from or to Christchurch and wants to hike around the place where that spectacular footage of "Edoras" of... More

A special place indeed. Madeline and Sean are wonderful hosts, with Sean having a talent in the the kitchen, which is unsurpassed in Canterbury. We have been fortunate enough to dine here twice in recent weeks, and both times were a culinary treat. Scallops, Duck, Steak, Salmon Pasta, Lamb Rack, Venison, the list just goes on. Such a charming, personal... More

Stronechrubie was the first stop on a 5 day adventure around the Canterbury and McKenzie districts for us. It was the perfect place to begin our trip. Warm, comfortable and welcoming. We splurged and took the room, dinner and breakfast deal and were absolutely blown away by the culinary delights of the restaurant. I am still dreaming about the lamb... More

The accommodation at Steonechrubie is fine but beginning to look its age. It's comfortable and quiet which is everything you need when travelling. It is situated close to one of New Zealand's most beautiful areas, Hakatere Conservation Reserve where there is stunning scenery and beautiful lakes. Hosts are welcoming and friendly. The views are gorgeous. The surprise at Stronechrubie is... More

Had a night here recently in a chalet . Pics on the website showed a very plush unit however the one we had was tired and in need of some loving updating. Beautiful peaceful spot (except for the overgrown tree outside the bedroom window which kept banging/scratching on the roof in the wind). Lovely grounds and view. Verandah outside the... More

We were at Stronechrubie for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our chalet was spacious and comfortable and the location was suberb. We had a view of Mt Somers out of the bedroom sliding doors and the place was so quiet and peaceful. Our kitchette was a little bit tired but it was clean and tidy and everything worked.Everyone...
