Traversing through an unmade road we saw the wooden placard denoting the Eco lodge. Rain was bucketing down but with each swipe of our window wipers our excitement grew... Our car made a left hand turn and we were greeted by a beautiful wooden house. It was surrounded by well manicured flora and ample parking space. After unpacking in our... More

Best value in New Zealand. Cozy cabin with stained glass panel in door, interesting path through forest to river, and great sociable host. Very nice kitchen in lodge. Self-sufficient off-the-grid but easy to find.

Highly recommended by friends who discovered the lodge years ago we stopped for a night on our way from Franz Josef Glacier to Abel Tasman NP. Wish we'd have had more time to enjoy this peaceful spot. We were warmly welcomed by Grae who offered some salad&veggies from their garden so we had a delicious dinner - best Ruccola we... More

Do yourself a favor and don't crash at Beaconstone just for a night. Take your time and enjoy this peaceful eco-gem for at least one or two days. Discover the river track close by and take a dip, enjoy the cozy lounge area and make some dinner in the well equipped kitchen, sleep in most comfortable beds and just relax... More

Beaconstone Eco Lodge is a lovely quiet retreat for travellers who are interested in all things environmental and want a homely, clean and truly beautiful place to stay while exploring the west coast. We stayed 2 nights only but loved the peace and quiet, the bush, the very friendly and helpful owners, Grae and Nancy and just being there was... More

Our stay at this backpackersecolodge was great. What a peacefull place. Cosy rooms, well equipped kitchen. Well situated in nature not far from pancake rocks. Owners are very helpfull and interested. (concerned on flat tire... But we reached next tyre station without damage) Nice eco-founding is the outdoor toilet. Place to go! Thx, Pieter.

I stayed here with a friend for three nights and fell in love with it. So peaceful, cosy and beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches. I came away to get some writing done and Beaconstone was the perfect location. Grae & Nancy were so personable and spun some great yarns. I'd love to stay here again!

I stayed here for 2 nights and really loved the peace and quiet I enjoyed here. Nancy and Grae were very friendly and helpful. The Eco lodge is off the energy grid which is excellent and means the greedy power companies don't get a penny of your money. All power is supplied via solar panels. Grae and Nancy have taken...
