Very spontaneous we decided to sleep at the Slope Point backpackers! And we didn't regret it! We got a very cosy and cute doubleroom with the most comfortable bed we have ever had on our entire trip through NZ!! In the communal kitchen is free tea and coffee which we really appreciated and it's a nice gesture for all the... More

Slope Point Backpackers is the only shared-facility lodging we have opted for till date and we were a little apprehensive about our visit. However, this undoubtedly turned out to be the best lodging we had during our visit to NZ. We stayed in comfortable and cozy gold room which was super close to the bathroom. The entire facility was extremely... More

Myself and my partner stayed here for one night in a double room with shared bathroom. The room was clean and had lovely decor. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for our backpacks. The shower which was powerful and hot was located in a room next to ours so we were practically ensuite. The toilet was... More

My wife and I came across it by pure chance, after a long day driving from Queenstown and just starting to explore the Catlins. As this farmstay is located off the main asphalt roads, it would seem not many tourists are aware of its existence - which is such a shame because this place is - all on its own... More

Great farm based backpackers to explore the Catlins area. Pet the calfs and sheeps and relax in the pleasant common room. Close to the petrified forest of Curio Bay and the Catlins forest park for walks.

Slope point Backpackers is sited on a large working sheep farm. Justine, the owner and her 3 little girls are very charming with a great Kiwi sense of humor. My husband and I stayed in a private double with ensuite that was recently renovated and a great facility for the price. The Catlins are very special with lots of wildlife... More

My wife, baby, and I stayed at Slope Point Backpackers during our tour of the South Island in Feb. 2013. The lodging was great and the price reasonable. There were many choices of rooms/options, including camping with a range of price points depending on the facilities and how nice the rooms were. Many rooms are recently built/renovated, so it was... The place is on the same road leading to Slope Point and easy to be found. Very friendly host. We stayed in a 'gold room' which is beautiful and very cozy. The bathroom and toilet are separated and I would say they have the same quality as you'll find in a 4 star hotel. Plenty of warm water provided. You... More
