Four of us tramped in from Kaiuma. Good variety of scenery from close bush canopy, accompanied by a fantail most of the way, then forest, with toadstool galore and the smell of pine needles was wonderful. On reaching the saddle the vista opened up to Nydia Bay. The highlight of the trip was the stay in the Tram carriage and... More

The Eco Lodge is perfect for an upscale overnight hike. They provide tasty vegetarian meals, beds, and very nice facilities. The home-brewed beer is very good. The shared bathrooms were clean. You have beautiful Nydia Bay almost to yourself and the hike, while not the best in New Zealand, is very good.

We stayed at Te Mahoerangi for a night while walking the Nydia track. The main house was lovely and well-equipped (with a great kitchen), the double room was extremely comfortable, the showers were... More

We stayed at Te Mahoerangi for a night this weekend. What a great spot. It is beautifully built from recycled materials, has a great garden and sits in the middle of Nydia Bay with great views of the surrounding mountains. It has rustic charm. The individual bedrooms are in small cottages dotted around the property with shared bathrooms and kitchen... More

This hostel is hidden away half-way along the Nydia Track in the Marlborough Sounds. It is therefore only accessible by water-taxi or by walking along the Nydia Track (a 2 day walk). We walked and it was wonderful not to have to carry sleeping bags with us. The hostel was started by a couple who wanted to use it to... More
