We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Wellington for one night in late May due to its close proximity to the Inter Islander Ferry Terminal. We had an early morning ferry departure and for the price (about USD 68 for the night, pre-paid), the Holiday Inn fit our needs perfectly. The lobby area was stylish as was as was our... more

Thank you so much for your positive comments, we certainly are very close to both ferry companies that leave several times a day for the South Island - we are just 200 metres from the complimentary Inter Island transfer bus that leaves 35 minutes before each sailing for pedestrian passengers ... Platform 9, of the Wellington Railway Station.

We recently spent 3 days at the Holiday Inn, choosing this hotel because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were fortunate to be given a room on the 13th floor, looking out over the harbour area, the view was great. The room itself was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Adjustable central heating was a bonus! We particularly liked the... more

We stayed just 1 night at the Holiday Inn but I was suprised as it was much better than other Holiday Inn we have been in Europe. The Hotel was very modern, and the room very nice decorated and new. Breakfast was ok but the price we got for the hotel booked directly from their website was very good. If... more

We had a one night stay here after a wild and woolly trip across the Cook Straight from Picton. We arrived in rain and wind, so appreciated the valet parking ($25). Smooth check-in had us in our room soon after arrival. The room was medium sized and well appointed (fridge with mini-bar, kitchenette, cable TV, generous bathroom with a bath... more

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 2 nights. It is a new modern hotel centrally located within walking distance from the main railway station. Rooms were superbly appointed. Very spacious with full kitchen facilities including cooker and microwave. You even get a pillow menu. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Cleanliness was... more

Got a good deal on the internet and certainly got value for money. Was on the 4th floor (cause it was a cheap deal I guess). Even though we didn't get a room with a view of the harbour (asked to no avail), the room was still well lit with good views of the streets below and buildings. About 5... more

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn at Wellington. I was only there for 1 night but this hotel was entirely suitable. Comfortable room with kitchen facilitites and as I was on a high floor I looked out over Wellington which was nice. Service was good - very easy and quick check and check out and location was OK.... more

Booked here because we thought new is usually good. The 4th floor on the street side is very noisy. Moved to another darker room on the other quieter side of the building. Got the not so good view of the office block opposite. No sea views for us either. Rooms are not huge but adequit. Nice decor, a bit retro... more

Stayed 2 nights, king size room with great views over the city and harbour. Great valet-parking for 20NZD/24 hours. This is the place you want to stay at: no big surprises and no big hype - but everything is there as you would expect it. We walked to all of the city's attractions from the hotel. Staff was very quick... more

I like this Holiday Inn. The front desk staff are pretty on to it - never have to wait long to check in. The buffet breakfast is good. The hotel is new and the room layout is pleasant with comfortable beds and funky decor, especially the bathrooms which feature lots of frosted glass. The only negative is they must have... more
