This is a Victorian home that retains historic charm with modern amenities. Location is at top of hill adjacent to Mt. Victoria park--good for walks. Has street noise ( and we heard quite a bit on Saturday night). Breakfast is full cooked, and Joan goes out of her way to help her guests get settled and find their way around... More

Worth a visit which will be long remembered hostess even went out of her way to make me feel at home away from mine .. recommend it to anyone that knows what commercial hotels look like with their unflexibility and the feeling of being just a number ...... thanks

Large rooms in a Victorian villa run by an affable writer/historian. Easy walk to town but also on bus route. Good pub down road for dinner and next to city green belt with hill walk. Jane is very knowledgeable about Wellington and things to do and see. A very nice way to get an insight into living in Wellington and... More

When we arrived Jane told us our room had been given to someone else. So we wondered what we had arrived at. However, the room we did get was fine and we decided to stay in that room for our 4 nights. We were given a welcome cup of tea and plenty of information to help us get about Wellington.... More

Lovely stay with lovely hostess in comfortable and pleasant old character home very close to city centre, with great offstreet parking next door at bowling club, native birds singing from the boundary trees. Second time we have visited this accommodation and would be preferred option for a stay in Wellington. Jane (Hostess) is published historical writer and has a wealth... More

My husband and I stayed at Booklovers while we were in New Zealand for our honeymoon (in July 2013). Jane was a gracious, knowledgeable, and friendly host and the house itself was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was always delicious, and Jane was kind enough to cook us breakfast even though she was heading out to work on a couple... More

My room was welcoming, the bed was comfy and the breakfast was great. Conversation around tables in the dining room was interesting and Jane helped point us in the right directions depending on our interests. I'd wanted to stay here previously, but it was fully booked. I'm glad I got a window of opportunity and will stay again. Getting here... More

We arrived from the South Island on the Interislander ferry and stayed one night, after spending a night at another B&B in town first. Jane was a very gracious host, but as others say, sometimes a bit disorganised indeed, this added to the atmosphere of the booklovers B&B. She gave us good tips (where to find Hobbit film locations), advised... More

This B & B was probably the most eccentric in which I have stayed. It truly is full of books. Sometimes you have to move some to sit down. It appears to be total chaos. Jane, the hostess, is a published author. She was interesting, very helpful, and her breakfasts were delicious. The round breakfast table was conducive to visiting... More

We arrived late at night to a warm and inviting room. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom grand and beautiful. Done toiletries, tea and coffee were provided and a selection of books was on hand. The heated mattresses were fabulous! Jane was very flexible the next day about breakfast which I have to say was delicious! The main... More
