Very tired old hotel. In need of a refurbishment. Poor lighting in the room. Aside from the bedside lamps there was one light on the far wall and that was it in terms of lighting. I also had the pleasure of hearing the elevator all night for several nights until i managed to check into another hotel. Bathroom was very... more

Having booked this hotel through an on-line travel agent (combined with airline flights) and little detail, I was somewhat apprehensive. We were totally satisfied throughout our 6 day stay at this hotel. Any hotel is only as good as its staff. We found the staff at this hotel to be very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and non-intrusive. All of our requests... more

Very tired building. Booked 3 nights following a 12 hour flight as a city break and to get over the jetlag. Shower only a dribble, shower lever missing. Door chain also missing. Bathroom amenities not refreshed during our 3 days. Mentioned above to reception staff, given a breakfast voucher as an apology. Location not the best at least 10 minutes... more

We spent 2 nights there and had mixed feelings about the place.. The staff were friendly and helpfull.. The rooms were very compact but clean. The location was downer as it is situated quite well out of town. The rate we bought included breakfast which was a bonus.. We were very impressed with buffet breakfast.. The staff were very helpfull..... more

This place is almost impossible to find. All of the downtown streets are one way. Willis Street is broken in two parts, separated by a major road. Even the policeman we asked could not help us with directions. After two hours, we accidently happened upon the hotel. The facility is more like an old boarding school. The room was drab... more

Having stayed in the Mercure in Aukland as part of a tour and found the hotel to be fine we thought the Wellington Mercure would also be OK. However it was not particularly clean and our room had clearly been adapted for wheelchair users - which meant it had a 'walk-in' shower - but it also meant the floor was... more

Typical Mercure Hotel - rooms comfortable, modern, clean but not a lot of storage space and more geared for a business traveller. - Not very much parking space available - only room for about 10 cars max. - Convenient for walking into town - about 5 mins walk.Lots of good restaurants and bars. - During our stay staffing levels seemed to... more

I was not impressed with the room. The night I stayed was extremely windy (not unusual for Wellington) and the windows were banging constantly. I ended up jamming paper in the gaps to keep it quiet. It looked like they had done a cheap and nasty renovation. The TV reception was also very poor. For NZD $144 per night it... more

Very average hotel, don't expect too much. Difficult to get your luggage up the steps to reception, average breakfast. Wind howled through the ill fitting door all night. But acceptable if you are just passing through and all you need is a bed and a shower. We left our luggage at reception while we went for a wander and to... more

My biggest complain about this hotel is that I had to lug my heavy luggage up a flight of stairs all by myself. There was no ramp to be seen and there weren't any hotel staff around to help me with my luggage. The guy at the front desk either didn't see me or just pretended not to notice. The... more
