A friend booked this hotel on our behalf and I was not sure where we were going. This was a beautiful building. We were greeted with a very polite receptionist who promptly checked us in and showed us to our room. We then enjoyed a coffee in the cafe downstairs. Perfectly situated in the centre of town, close to everything... More

Love the location near to the railway but relatively quiet. Rooms good. Great claw foot bath. Bed comfortable. Relaxing. Some maintenance required but still enjoyed the heritage character of the place

Our room and bathroom were spacious but showing signs of age. The breakfast area was bleak and uninviting with the bar closing at 8 in the evening. The complementary breakfast offered on the first morning was probably the worst we had in 2 months in New Zealand. We were told the kitchen was closed due to holidays! The exterior is... More

Hi Mike Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm sorry you found our breakfast area bleak and uninviting, and the complimentary breakfast not to your liking. We spend just one night but enough to enjoy this hotel boutique. The location is quite good. The room comfortable with a nice and renewed bathroom. The breakfast could have a little more variety but fair. Kind staff

This place is like the NYC Yale Club in New Zealand. Our room was small and dark, ditto the bathroom. We looked onto the light well -- so just closed the curtains. It's dripping with old world charm, and the location is quite good -- but we didn't use the elevator after our first ride, because we had to hold... More

Hi Maude Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm glad you enjoyed the charm of staying in a Heritage hotel - our hotel was built in 1927, and is recognised as a Category 1 Heritage Building, and considered one of the finest examples of neo-Georgian architecture in New Zealand. The room you stayed in during your... More

My wife and I stayed at the Wellesley Boutique Hotel overnight on 16 March. We arrived about 5pm on a wet and windy Wellington day. I had booked the Wellesley based on good tripadvisor reviews and its rather quaint older hotel look. This is an older building and has a lot of history, which is part of its charm but... More

We are currently touring NZ and have already enjoyed 10 different hotels, while we agree with other reviews regarding the character of the place we also agree with previous reviews about avoiding room 204, The Budd room, it is small, no view or natural light and extremely stuffy. I went to turn on the air conditioner to circulate some fresh... More

We wanted somewhere special to stay in Wellington for our 20th Wedding Anniversary, somewhere that wasn't just a box shaped room, somewhere with character. Wellesly Boutique fit our requirements perfectly. The fabulous history, ornate charm, attentive, friendly staff all added to our holiday experience. We stayed 4 nights in the deluxe room 401 Jeffries Suite. From the moment you stepped... More

A lovely character building conveniently set between City and harbour; well placed for all the attractions of a wonderful Capital City. The staff are welcoming and the bedrooms are spacious , well-equipped and comfortable . It's a great place to stay - both businesslike and relaxing. I would certainly choose the Wellesley again next time I'm in Wellington.

I found Wellesley Boutique to be a wonderful place to stay. The Hotel itself is beautifully cared for and oozes elegance. The staff at Wellesley Boutique were very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive, throughout my entire stay. The room I stayed in (406) was wonderfully furnished and had all the comforts one requires for a hotel. The bathroom housed... More
