We have stayed here often in the past and love it because each room is furnished in a different style and decor. So different from the modern hotels where each room is the same as the next. Although affected by the regulations following the Christchurch earthquake we never felt unsafe there. Beatrice on the front desk was charming and from... More

Without doubt the biggest attraction to this charming little hotel was the staff, they were simply outstanding. The young ladies on reception were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful, this made a huge change from the larger, just a number hotels that I usually stay at in Wellington. A good location for the business end of Wellington, a little bit of a... More

Charming Heritage boutique hotel in great location in Wellington. Minutes walk to shopping, waterfront, museum and restaurants..in a quiet street. Friendly , helpful staff. Rooms tastefully furnished and fantastic staircase or quaint elevator to rooms.

My mum and I stayed for a night at the Wellesley. It was a perfect location for either business or shopping (that was us!) and the staff, room and food were impeccable. Good value and highly recommended!

Loved the room, with its large european styled clawed bath. Comfy bed and very clean. Great central location and easy to find in the early hours of the morning, with easy entry. LOved it and will use again.

Comfortable hotel within walking distance of Te Papa and good restaurants. It's a mostly renovated former gentleman's club (English variety), but some parts, such as the ceiling above the stairs, still need renovating. Staff were friendly and helpful and we'd definitely stay again.

Friendly staff, interesting rooms and a reasonable price. The hotel shares the building with the Masonic Lodge and the rooms are named after previous members. Wasn't aware of this when booking only advised when I was being shown to my room.

Thank you for reviewing our Hotel. The building is perfect for a Freemasons Lodge Room to be built within it. Having Freemasons using that room should in no way affect the service and comfort of Guests. We thought it an interesting idea to personalise the rooms with names rather than just numbers. Our new web site should be up and... More

I loved the character of this hotel, beautiful staircase which you can look down from at the top and see the piano player at the bottom of the spiral. I got a great photo of that. It was a bit on the tired side with the decorating, some ripped wallpaper in my room and a hole in the roof going... More

We are extremely happy that you had a good overnight stay at our Hotel. We are very proud of the building and it's Heritage status. We are sorry about the alarm clock. We have now asked the housekeeping staff to check each day so that should not happen again unless by choice. We look forward to you coming again and... More

I booked this hotel for a friend of mine visiting from the UK. He was taking the Northern Explorer railway from Auckland to Wellington and needed a place a place to stay for two nights before flying back to Auckland. Apparently, I chose the best combination for him as he had nothing but positive things to say about the railway... More

This hidden gem is close to the city and harbour with plenty of restaurants and attractions close by. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was huge and modern even with its claw foot bath. The hotel exudes charm and character whilst accommodating everything a traveler would expect in a modern city hotel. Loved the staircase, the oak paneling... More
