Entering the hotel is like stepping back in time and every detail is charming. We stayed four nights in an elegant room with a gorgeous ensuite bathroom. The service was warm and friendly so we'll definitely be going back next time we visit Wellington.

This old hotel is a converted gentlemens club and it is quite fascinating throughout, plenty of character. My wake up calls never happened so I would rely on that service but it wouldn't stop me from going back.I was in a single room this time and it had a quirky pump system that shifted waste water- I got used to... On arriving you feel you are transported to another age. The decor and the staff exude chivalry and class. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable and decorated in the same elegant manner. The bed was very comfortable and all amenities were excellent. The only drawback was the very expensive parking on the street and the adequate but not brilliant soup... More

We stayed 2 nights mid week at this lovely hotel. The room was large, ornate, and equipped with a claw foot bath. It was central to everything and the front desk personnel were polite and helpful. The hotel has the feel of an old world gentleman's club and in fact that is part of its history. Taxidermy figures large in... More

The Wellesley hotel is located in a lovely house and has an otherworldly charme. The carpets, the high ceilings, the roosm, everything warps you back in time. And I mean this absolutely positive. We loved ther stay at the Wellesley and were also very happy to discover the quality of the restaurant during the first evening and the first breakfast.... More

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the friendly staff who showed us all our rooms. One highlight of the hotel would definitely be the lift. One of the oldest that u get to ride around and it serves one level at a time. Definitely worth a try. The rooms were huge with huge toilets and our own... More

My first experience of the Wellesley Boutique Hotel certainly won't be the last. From the warm, friendly welcome on a blustery evening to the generous sized room and comfortable bed, I was very happy with the decision to stay here. We enjoyed an evening drink and snack in the 1815 bar, then I was back there for breakfast at 7am.... More

After three nights in a ridges suite we upgraded for half the price to this ninetieth centurary gem. It's in the down town business centre of Wellington in a quiet street. Close to boutiques and shopping city centre. A short stroll to the foreshore restaurants and their wonderful museum and the cable car. It began its life for over 100... More

Unfortunately we were here for only one night -- waiting for the Picton Ferry. As I understand it this hotel was originally a gentleman's club with a Masonic connection. The result was very interesting, the rooms were all individual with very high ceilings 5+ mtrs and original wooden panelling but the facilities were very good and our room was very... More

A friend booked this hotel on our behalf and I was not sure where we were going. This was a beautiful building. We were greeted with a very polite receptionist who promptly checked us in and showed us to our room. We then enjoyed a coffee in the cafe downstairs. Perfectly situated in the centre of town, close to everything... More
