The old wooden pub has had a makeover and the rooms and service were great. The food and atmosphere in the bar and restaurant were excellent. The staff were friendly and made me feel very welcome. I will stay here again if in Wellington in the future.

Had to write this after reading some of the earlier reviews. I have stayed at The Shepherds Arms about 8 times over the last year and will continue to stay there on my regular visits. Sure, it's not 5 stars, but, it represents excellent value! The room is always clean and warm when I check in. Sure, the desk is... More

I had a meeting with a govt department - quite by coincidence this was about the closest possible hotel to my meeting, even though I didn't know it at the time I booked. Location possibly wouldn't work for everyone - it is in Tinakori Village, behind Parliament. No staff at reception but it was simple to go into the bar... More

The hotel is hard to find, especially at night, as there is no lighted signage. The parking was difficult as the spaces are taken up by those going to the pub The pub was fine as was the food. However, the hotel room left something to be desired. While the bed was comfortable, the furnishings were dated. The hotel portion... More

All I can hear is the rugby going on in the bar right below my room. No one at the check in office and all dark and closed off. Close and handy location but dated and I won't be staying again I usually like to write nice reviews but sorry hotel u won't be getting one. The pics aren't like... More

we had a great time during our 2 day stay, this place was easy to find after we turned of the freeway , we checked in and was shown straight to the room , a little gem ,the king suite , a very spacious big room , , The king suite is away from the pub , above a vacant... More

We booked two nights at the Shepherds Arms Hotel (the only stay for more than one night on our two-week trip) because it was reasonably priced and had a good location based on the things we wanted to do in Wellington. Unfortunately, some of the complaints that we chose to ignore on this site were very true. No one manning... More

Believing that one should not necessarily be governed by others opinions, we booked for one nights stay {in transit} at the Shepherds Arms, 285, TINAKORI Road, Wellington...Quaint, old fashioned, no service were some of the complaints we read..We agree on the observation re the reception desk, no-one in attendance so had to fetch a barman...OK, we did that, we were...
