Once upon a time a group of four girls decided to go out for a weekend in Wellington. After driving for hours and walking km's from the train station they could not wait to put there feet up and kick back in their chosen destination to stay. When they arrived at this residence you could imagine their shock when they... More

We ended up here because all other lodges we called were fully booked. Wished we kept looking. Lodge in the city is a terrible place. Truly disgusting. The only positive is the location but i'd rather travel a bit longer to wellington's famous spots than ever staying here again. I don't know how this plAce is still in business. There... More

Me and friend stayed here for three nights earlier this month. It is by far the worst hostel i have ever stayed in. They clearly do not clean any of the facilities! The room we stayed in was past the bar area so every night we had to walk through here just to use the toilet. The bar seemed to... More

At first i had to change room three times because all the beds were used. Finally i've got a room which was very dirty (it seems that they never clean the rooms at all!) and smelly (it smelled like mildew). I don't even start to speak about the showers and toilets.. The kitchen was a mess, dirty and just to... More

We only had one night in wellington before catching the ferry to the south island. The carpark was really expensive. $10 / night.. And we had a small kitchen next to our room. SMALL. it was more like a pentry and it was shared by 12 persons. there was no plates or glasses in the kitchen and no where to... More

Staff were great, the 4 bed self contained unit we stayed in was adequate and good value for money with clean linen, but overall it was quite dirty, shower doors covered in mould! Everything pretty shabby but cheapest in town - get what you pay for!

Don't get me wrong, you get exactly what you pay for as the cheapest hostel in Wellington. Very dirty kitchens and bathrooms; bed bugs and fleas and overall very out dated. No other travellers staying here, a wide spectrum of guests. At times, we did feel unsafe - particularly in the toilets at night. Remember, if you get stuck in... More

Thanks Sam and the team at Lodge in the City for accommodating our Colts Rugby Team when our accommodation was shut down one week before a Rugby test in Wellington. We should have booked with you in the beginning! Its not the Ritz but in an awesome location and was perfect accommodation for a group like ours. Great value for... More

We were travelling over new year's eve and didn't make an advance booking anywhere and unsurprisingly, everywhere in Wellington was filled up except for Lodge in the City. The lift barely worked but that wasn't a major problem. Room was pretty small and dank but we were going to be spending most of the time outside anyway so it didn't... More

I recently stayed at the Lodge in the City, Taranaki St , Wellington. The room was clean but the beds were uncomfotable and too small. The shower and toilets were disgusting. Some had urinated on the toilet seat and it wasn't cleaned the whole time I was there. The shower drain was blocked and filled up with slimy water. The... More
