Parking is TERRIBLE. Steep drive up to so called car parks, but none available when arrived and being in central wellington had to leave and hope someone left so we could get park later in day! Came back and luckily one free. Had to keep car parked there and walk/bus in case someone stole it. Im sure there are many... More

Hi Gwolfess. We are sorry to hear that you would not consider us again in future due to our parking. We stress to people that it is first in first serve and during busy times like now, alternative parking should be planned for. It is Wellington city so there is pay and display parking all over and also parking buildings,... More

We stayed here once before however it was the units at the back which are fine. This time we're were booked into the lodge. The room was so small that there was hardly any room to put yr bag down. The bed was tiny and was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever sleep in. The noise from outside was horrendous... More

Stayed here for two nights. Rooms might be small but very clean and everything I needed. Staff very helpful, when I arrived I was given room on ground floor but they changed this as car park was at rear and on first floor level so I did not need to lug my case downstairs. Rooms had TV, mini fridge and... More

My partner and I came up to Welly for a weekend before we moved and stayed here - good price for the budget room. The room had everything we needed and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It got pretty loud at night next door - but for the price we paid I am not too upset. I would... More

We stayed here twice on our recent family holiday to NZ and found it extremely good value considering its location in the CBD. To note there are three categories of room. The front rooms are very small, even hostel like, but have ensuites. Great for one or two people but not much more. The apartments are basic but good value.... More

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. We had a twin room in the hotel part on the first floor. The hotel is very conveniently located about 8 minutes from Te Papa and the supermarket is on the way. The airport link bus stops around the corner. The room was very small and so was the bathroom but it... More

We stayed for 3 nights and weren't impressed at all. We paid for a deluxe studio apartment and what we got was nothing short of a standard motel room. One light in the sleeping area didn't work, 2 lights above the bed flickered all the time and the hairdryer didn't work in the bathroom. There was mould in the shower... More

To us, the main advantage of The Halswell Lodge was its location. It's right in the heart of Wellington and has everything you need within walking distance: restaurants, shops, ATMs, bus stops - and a large supermarket as well. We spent a couple of nights here and unfortunately, the size of the budget bedroom drove us up the wall. If... More

this was the perfect place for my wife and two kids. Two separate bedrooms in one of the rooms in the back part. Was close to city and very comfortable room. Good to have somewhere to stay where the kids had a separate room from the tv area and the other bedroom. For two separate bedrooms in that part of... More

This is the second time I have stayed at the Halswell. It was cheap(ish) but clean, cheerful and helpful staff, close to Te Papa, the restaurants and bars of Courtney Place and would have been close to the Wellington Regional Council offices, where I was going, if they hadn't moved temporarily to the docks.
