We stayed at this hotel and found the staff to be very professional and friendly. The room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Would recommend this hotel to other travelers looking for a hotel in Hamilton

Easily one of the best hostels I have stayed in on my travels. Friendly staff, warm showers, comfortable beds, big, clean kitchens with plenty of equipment, great location and plenty of facilities such as pool, free wifi and a TV room, you can't go wrong. It is less than a 10 minute walk to Cuba Street and Courtney Place, the... More

Loved staying here with my family. We had a family ensuite room which was perfect and spacious. Pillows were a bit flat but we made do. Had a great view out over the lovely historic fire station. Yes there is some city noise but it is a city. Close enough to have easy access to city and buses, but not... More

Right beside a grocery store. Good distance from mt Victoria. Rooms were clean. Beds were decent. Bathrooms were clean. Great common area. Staff were helpful. Parking was about a10 minute walk. They used to have an activities coordinator who was really helpful.

I'd never stayed in a YHA hostel before, so I didn't really know what to expect. This was a huge complex (so large in fact there were 2 kitchens!) which was just like a uni/college block. The twin room we were in was clean and functional, so it afforded a good night's sleep. We were getting the 8.30am interislander ferry... More

As with the majority of purpose built YHAs, this one had plenty of space and common rooms. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped, bedrooms were comfortable and secure and bathrooms were plentiful and clean. Great stay.

I stayed one night in a single room with shared bathroom for around $83. Bed rather squashy, Spartan room and no free tea/coffee as in most nz backpackers. It was clean and the desk staff were helpful and polite but not really value for money in my humble opinion.

Hello hippichicknz, Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback. It’s good to know our front desk staff were able to help you during your stay, though I’m sorry to hear we weren’t able to quite meet your expectations. In the future, you might consider becoming a YHA member for $25 per year. That will guarantee a 10% discount... More

Just passed through Wellington for one night while making my way towards the South Island. All other hostels were sold out (I didnt check the Base hostel) stopped here in the evening. Front desk staff decent and got me in a room pretty quick although didn't give me much info about the place ( I assume because I only booked... More

I stayed in a shared doorm room with shared bathtroom and it was pretty good. Nice clean rooms and nice facilites in genreal in the hostel. The best thing about it is the location, very close to everyhting you need. I would say a bit pricey but worth it :)

I have stayed at Wellington YHA on three previous occasions and have always enjoyed myself thoroughly. It is a Modern City Hostel situated within easy walking distance of all Wellingtons attractions. It is more like a hotel really with attentive and helpful staff running a clean and well maintained operation.Since my last visit however, free wifi has been introduced and while... Hello, Thank you for the great feedback on our hostel, which is always appreciated. WiFi and the use of digital devices through the night is one our new modern challenges, especially in shared dorms. We, like you, would prefer guests to use public areas when they are communicating with home, especially late at night, so as not to disturb other... More
