Two nights in twin room with shared bathroom. Basic but clean. Reception was very helpful & cheap bagel / coffee breakfast available. Large canteen style eating area with well-equipped kitchen. Sofa's around to chill & plenty of literature on the area to read through. Best feature was central location - couldn't have been better. Right over the road from large... More

I stayed in a private double room with a shared bathroom for 4 nights. It was great, the room was fine, linen was clean and furnishings modern. The view wasn't amazing and my room was right next to a loud extraction fan thing outside but to be honest I didn't come to Wellington to sit in my room all day... More

My friend and I stayed at YHA Wellington for a night last week (8/8/2014). The hostel was surprisingly good considering we only paid $33 NZD per person. We shared room 606 with this lovely lady from Mt Manganui. The only thing I didn't like was the shower - the water pressure was WAY too low and it was freezing that... More

YHA in Wellington is like star hotel not Hostel. We stayed in a four people room which has own bathroom that is really amazing! And the price is very very nice! Good stay in Wellington! The only problem is the coffee in the morning was so terrible. Maybe YHA need a good barista:)

Attended a conference. Decided to stay at the YHA. My previous experiences in YHA in Australia were awesome. Was about friendly, inclusive, family, like-minded folk, community area, chat with interesting folk. Unlike hotels, very impersonal as far as other people go. Loved my stay in Wtgn at the hostel. Booked a private double. Outstanding. The bathroom star 5. Supermarket right... More

I have never stayed in YHA before but was pleasantly surprised. We had two rooms, one was a twin room with ensuite which had a TV and kettle with free tea plus a plunger with free coffee. The view was of a wall. The other room was a 4 beds with ensuite, more basic but still good with a view... More

Great location - right in the centre of the city. Room was good if not a bit basic. Very big Hostel with two very large kitchens and these seem like they are always busy. Lots of big groups stay here, most seem to be sports teams. Lots of dressing up, drinking and being loud on all levels and communal space... More

Place was clean. Beds were stable and quite nice. Toilet was fine too. Hot water was fine. Heating was okay too. Probably one of the best YHA stays in NZ which I had. Parking may just be troublesome as they don't seem to have free private parking.

Basic double room. Clean with towels. Showers were clean too (dorm showers). Wifi worked better on my laptop then my boyfriends phone. Central location. $6 breakfast from the cafe is hot drink of your choice with a bagel but the kitchen is huge and clean. The whole hostel is massive but very quite.

HUGE dorms! Great beds, clean showers (with great pressure), good wifi ( free with membership), nice staff. Fresh barista made coffee to get you going in the morning. Too bed I only spent one night. Would stay here again.
