Rules wasn't respected, people always drunk and made lot of noise every nights. The kitchen was very small for the number of people living there, all the hostel was very dirty and almost never cleaned (kitchen, bathrooms & rooms). We stayed 3 nights and we could not stay longer...

I staid in Rosemere on and off for about 2 months, and I really liked it. It has great features, like the TV room which feels like a small cinema - it's full of couches and has an enormous selection of films and series. No need for zapping through channels and getting bored in the process! There's the free internet... More

We arrived at the hostel at 6am after a really exhausting and short night. We slept in the TV lounge until our room was ready. We had all our bags with us and somebody stole one of our bags with a full bottle of wine and a newly bought tobacco in it. As soon as we realized that our stuff... More

I stayed here years ago when I was 18 and just fresh in New Zealand. This place and the people I met in it changed my life and how I saw the world. We did what you're supposed to do in a hostel: talk, socialize, play cards, drink, go out, cook, have costume parties. It blew my mind as a... More

We stayed here for one night in order to have a night in the city (we were in a camper van). The staff were friendly (when they were actually around) but the building is old and run down and not very comfortable. We paid $72 for a double, shared bath and it was a ripoff. The bed was crap and... More

Stayed for several nights and on the whole would not recommend it. The walls are paper thin and the whole place has a forlorn look about it. You would be much better of at the YHA near the waterfront. Positive points were: a relaxed atmosphere - a nice manager who kindly took my suitcase to the top where my room... More

Friendly well-run place - free breakfast! -also some food on Wednesday evenings I believe. Good crowd when I was there - lively but not OTT! Very central - tho beware the short steep uphill climb at the end of the day - esp if you have a heavy pack! (mine not so heavy!)

It's a cheap and well locate hostel, but not very comfortable. For a night is okay. The property is very old, so it has the typical problems of an old house. You can walk to the water front, or the Te Papa museum in 15 minutes.

Again I should have checked Trip Advisor before booking but I had stayed here about 10 years ago and it was fine. However this place is now disgusting and rundown. Filthy bedding and bathrooms. Noisy well after 2am at night in the communal areas which should be managed by the staff. It is a good location but we moved out... More

Had a single room here. The interior was old and everything was broken. The communal areas were very small and noisy. Location is OK if you like to walk up a small hill. Moved out after one night as I did not like it.
