I've stayed at the Museum several times on business over the past three months. I love the bohemian quirky and arty feel of the hotel and the location is great. However, my experience with the rooms and staff has been inconsistent. Its a matter of luck which room (and staff you get). The residential apartment rooms are very comfortable -... more

I only stayed at the Museum Hotel for one night while in Wellington on a mixture of business and leisure, but I thought it was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in the Capital. The room was huge, with modern decor and was spotlessly clean. The minibar was stocked with every conceivable thing you might get caught without... more

The museum hotel is a quirky kind of place that (obviously) takes its themes from the museum located across the road. Its fairly handy to everything but we found it was a bit of a walk to find a nice restaurant. The room we had was comfortable enough but the experience was spoilt by a pervading mouldy smell that reminded... more

Husband & I stayed for one night in a Chaffers Suite($275 incl bfast) and loved this hotel. This suite was on the 6th floor of the newer residential part of the hotel and has views out over the Chaffers Marina and Te Papa Museum. It really is a hotel room with a great compact wall kitchen with everything you would... more

The best part of the hotel is the plush, artistic and very unconventional decor of the lobby and common areas of the hotel - very appealing with lots of great artwork worth looking at. The restaurant is also very good for dinner - though a bit on the pricey side. Breakfast tends to be very conventional, mainstream English. Again, in... more

Stayed in a room on first floor. Good size but furnishings tired & a little grubby. Hallway on first floor noticeably underventilated/stuffy. Lobby nice with very stylish art. Wouldn't stay again. We stayed at the Copthorne hotel a few steps away in Oriental Bay a couple of months ago and it is a bit more expensive for a harbour view... more

Check in was good, free internet in loby always avaiable, room was good clean, bathroom was a bit tired but plently of hot water and towels. Great location walking distance to attractions and resturants. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would have been even better had it not rained every day (but that wasnt the hotels fault) more

Very nice.

We stayed for two nights in a room overlooking the water/Te Papa. The room was spacious, the bed huge and luxurious, and the bathroom spotless. Check-in was a bit slow, but apart from that the service was great. The location is excellent - across the road from Te Papa (Museum of New Zealand) and within walking distance to shopping and... more

My wife and I went to Wellington for the Impressionists' Exhibition at Te Papa and wanted to be close because so we could visit the exhibition several times during our four day stay. The location was perfect. But we'd read mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, and were curious to see for ourselves. We were not disappointed. We stayed in a second... more

Very good apartment Hotel that punches above it's weight. Lovely decor around the hotel, artwork, mirrors, drapes everywhere. The staff were first class, the room was clean, bright and had all the mod-cons. Breakfast, lap pool and gym were of a good standard but didn't have the wow factor that the rest of the hotel had. The location is great,... more
