This was my first stop in my 1 month long trip in NZ. I was very excited to arrive there as TA has rated it as top place to stay. And I was so glad that it was accurate. I just love the place that is so fancy, petit and its vibe just made my stay very comfortable. Yes it... More

During a recent trip through Wellington, my friend and I stayed one night at Gourmet Stay. We wanted to save money so we chose a room with a shared bathroom. For someone like me, who is starting to feel too old for hostels but still wants to stretch my travel money as far as possible, it was the perfect choice.... More

This hotel is great. I stayed for one night in a double room with a shared bathroom. Everything was very clean, comfortable bed, lovely linen and very quiet. I never had to wait for the bathroom, the shower was lovely and there is even a full sized bath if you wanted it. There is a hair dryer supplied as well.... More

We're a young couple in our late 20s and enjoy places that are a great value to how much you pay. That was definitely the case for Gourmet Stay. Both Mark and Lucy were fantastic, and they really go the extra mile to make sure you'll enjoy your stay in Wellington. We stayed in Rome 1, which has an outdoor... More

Owners Mark and Lucy couldn't have been nicer even though we arrived late and frazzled. They were full of good suggestions. The breakfast cafe is lovely and the central location was so good we rebooked for another stay later on in out trip. We definitely preferred the top floor room with private bath. It's worth asking for.

Although the weather was not the best in Wellington during our 2 night stay the hotel certainly made up for it. The breakfast at Fredericks was fantastic and the staff most friendly and helpful. You cannot ask for a better location and the parking for our car was good. Will recommend our younger friends to stay there but the stairs... More

We loved our night at Gourmet Stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The location was ideal for exploring - only a 20 minute walk to the waterfront and right next to Cuba Street which was great for eating. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming, and it was useful to have somewhere to park our van. The... More

We had booked with Gourmet Stay based on past reviews, but after our experience, I don't understand how these reviews have been so high. We had dealt with the owner, Mark, through email and he was pleasant and let us pay upon arrival. When we did arrive, in the evening hours, found the place all locked up. We had to... More

The best place I have stayed in Wellington. I stayed in the shared dorm room for my night at Gourmet Stay (I had the room to myself and so I can't comment on what it would have been like with strangers present). For somewhere so close to Wellington city centre, it is exceptionally good value. The owners were very friendly... More
