We stayed in the room with 3 dorm beds on the ground floor, and were greeted with the lovely aroma of coffee from the cafe each time we entered the main entrance. Miriam also offered us delicious homemade scones while we waited for our friends at the cafe. The room and shared bathroom were clean. Location was convenient, we were... More

I was surprised by how nice this. I stayed one night in a three bunk bed room. Most Comfortable bunk bed I've slept in. Very clean too. The manager Miriam emailed instructions on how to get into the building as I arrived late. She also booked a taxi to pick me up early the next morning to go to the... More

Friendly service. I had a very late flight but was still warmly welcomed at 10.45pm. The heating had been put on in my room .V quiet location. Comfy bed. Excellent breakfast. Delicious rhubarb. Will stay again!

Homemade scones on arrival... yes please! Wonderful continental breakfast, large and comfy room with a desk to work from (it was a work trip for me!) very sweet staff Great location... only minutes from Cuba street and a much friendly atmosphere than a large faceless hotel!

I must stress communications and accomodation arrangements were easy to organise with Miriam, and found staff waiting for us for check in and eager to help at breakfast. We had a hot tub room, which is worth paying for if you are going to spend quite some time in there. However what let the hotel down was the tiny box... More

We stayed here 2 nights while travelling trough New Zealand and really enjoyed our stay in this very well located and clean place. The breakfast was deliciouse, especially the bread, staff was helpfull and friendly and the room was big enough for our luggage. Some times the wlan didn't work but thats the only thing to complain about. We would... More

I have stayed here before but during our recent stay the cafe closed to the publc and is now just hotel style including breakfast. The chef from previous is still there and cooks food for the continental breakfast, choc croissants, cheese scones etc so you cant get any fresher as they are still hot. Enough choices for breakfast We had... More

Arrived mid-afternoon and had to ring bell to check-in. Only had to wait a minute or so to be met and efficiently and warmly checked in. We were in a double room with a shared bathroom, which I was worried about, but bathroom across the hall appeared to be shared with only two other (presumably also double) rooms. I think... More

We booked the double room which turned out to have a private bathroom separately across from our room instead of an en suite which was a bit convenient. The room itself was tiny and very basic; the interior is plain and unimaginative. There was nothing "gourmet" about the place apart from the name. The "off street parking" that cost $10... More

Hi Liena We were pleased that you found the private bathroom convenient, as it only one step away across the private hallway. Gourmet Stay is located in the heart of the Wellington “Gourmet” district with bars, restaurants and clubs all nearby and this is where the Gourmet name originates. Our rooms are simple, uncluttered and well portioned and “unimaginative” is... More

Much nicer than the big hotels - warm welcome, great service and the king room on the roof with a spa pool is fabulous. There is a cafe downstairs and it's walking distance to all the great sites in Wellington.
