The location is very central and you can walk all over Wellington from there. I stayed in a dorm room. There were three beds and it was a shared bathroom. The room was spotless. Super comfortable and quiet. Just what I needed. Staff are helpful kind and polite. There are tips about where to eat on a board as you... More

Very pleasant staff & was just what I needed. Bed sheets and room cleaned daily & wifi is super fast. Also the cafe is delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Male member of staff even went out of his way to point me in the right direction on the map to the shops etc. 5 mins walk from city centre

We stayed at the Gourmet Stay for the Labour weekend. We chose the double bedroom with kitchen and ensuite bathroom. The room was small but clean and tidy. The kitchen didn't have a stove to cook but offered a microwave, a kettle and everything you need to make breakfast. The bathroom was a "wet area" type : the entire floor... More

We stayed here two nights. From the neighborhood which looks industrial, you would not except this cozy cafe and clean modern rooms, it was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are modern and simple. My only criticism is that the pillows were almost flat they were not much use, and there was no alarm clock. However, whenever we rang the owner... More

Cheap hotel that is great value. Small and quirky rooms but very clean and service is friendly. Well located within the city area and walking distance form all the major sites and restaurants. Fabulous recommendations on the communal blackboard, indicating local restaurants that were well worth the venture.

I found this little gem online as I departed the ferry. Mark was amazing. Booking was fast and efficient -as I told him I only had minutes to spare as my hire car was due back by close of day. Clean, quiet and a nice sleep on the ground floor. (Can't comment on stairs) While not open to trade as... More

i enjoyed everything about my stay except for the fact there was no elevator. I had a 24kg suitcase and the lady carried it for me when I checked in, but I felt terrible because it was so heavy. I managed to hobble down 3 levels with it on check out. Great room, clean and modern. Free wifi was appreciated... More

I found what you rarely get real people. Nice concept. Good Coffee. Nice and friendly. Easy access, good security. Great location. Look forward to using the hot tub next time, and will bring the man. x

We were warmly welcomed by our host on our (early) arrival. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Although our room (5) was quite small, it was more that adequate for an overnight stay. The cafe menu looked appetising but as it's closed on Sunday, we didn't get to eat there! The free Wifi... We stayed one night as a family before catching the ferry to the South Island in the morning. Gourmet Stay is a "cafe with rooms" so feels quite unusual but it works. The bedrooms were really smart and the shared balcony was a nice touch. There is free on-street parking if the café's small carpark is full (it was) and... More
