We went for my husband's birthday! We loved it! The sound of the ocean, the unique accommodation, the planes passing the boats sailing by the beach walk it was a awesome experience. We recommend to everybody. The breakfast supplies very impressive. Even slept better than I do at home. Thank you Bruce for creating such a experience.

Last year for my birthday we stayed a night at The Lighthouse - this year we chose The Keep. The Keep has rustic decor (as one might expect from a keep) with basic kitchen and bathrooms (as one might expect in a keep) but is entirely comfortable and cosy. Bruce had nipped in and turned on all the heaters, so... More

I stayed at the Keep, rather than the Lighthouse, and I was very pleased with my stay there. I had never lived in a tower before. One room per level - constructed of board and batten macrocarpa, with of course, a stone exterior. The mid level is the living area, and in addition to bread, butter, and marmalade, I found... More

We stayed here for our anniversary and loved it. Close to home but felt like getting away. We loved the quirky style, the views, spa bath and breakfast provisions. Nice surprise of chocolates and bubble bath. Definitely be back for a weekend,

My husband and I stayed in the lighthouse in Feb 2015. It took us a while to find it since it was hidden in a row of houses while we assumed it to be little more secluded. Nevertheless, the place is really funky..it has a small kitchen facility first floor, a small bedroom in the second and the third has... More

Our family of 5 stayed in both the Lighthouse and the Keep. 2 of us stayed in the Lighthouse, 3 in the Keep. Both of these buildings are clever and cute! Great photo opportunities! The view out over the Cook Strait are great, and the walk along the coastline is great too. Bruce provides materials for good full breakfasts. The... More

Stayed at the lighthouse on a Saturday night. The view the top floor is amazing. The bed was comfortable and cozy. The shower was powerful and had nice hot water. It was a nice experience and now we can say we have stayed in a lighthouse. I defiantly agree with the other comments made by previous reviews, it does need... More

Lovely lighthouse-style accommodation in Island Bay. Right across the street from beach access, so it's easy to go for a swim. The third floor offers unparalleled views of the bay and the strait, with 360° windows, and you can actually see the south island on a clear day! Bedroom is charming and comfortable, the accommodation is clean. Bruce is wonderful... More

We stayed at The Lighthouse for one night while on Honeymoon. We wanted someplace unusual and interesting and this fitted the bill! Beautiful location and views, even though it is on a busy road we found it very quiet. Great atmosphere at the top, so peaceful and relaxing & those views!!! Plentiful breakfast options – we hadn't expected so much... More

We stayed at The Keep for one night while traveling through New Zealand in March. We wanted someplace unusual and interesting and this caught our eye. Here are some pros. Beautiful location and views, even though it is on a busy road we found it very quiet thanks to the concrete construction. Great ambiance. The hatch to the roof is... More
