This motel is situated about 50yds from the foot of the mountain. The wonderful view would be even better without the hotel between you and the mountain!
I had an upstairs room, which probably has a better view than downstairs! My spacious room was in very good condition, with a large kitchen area with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a big bathroom. Also a shared balcony. The salt water pools are only 50 yds away at the foot of the mountain and the motel will provide towels for you. Mt Maunganui is a peninsula and the beach on either side is only 100yds away. The ocean side beach has brilliant fine sand and plenty of surf. The harbour side beach, the sand is rougher, but the beach is quieter and you can watch the boats and cruise liners sailling by.
plenty of local cafes open for breakfast, but only 2-3 stay open late. However you are only 10-15 min walk from the centre which has plenty of restaurants and shops and is much noisier.
