Stayed in a studio upstairs. Unit 9 from memory. On arrival there was no-one available for check in and I used the desk phone and waited until the manager arrived from up the road. The parking was a long way away around the back of the building and had to carry bags around the building, up a flight of stairs... More

Ground floor suite was roomy and clean, but dated (only the kitchen seemed newer) and odd layout. Variety of potted plants on terraces giving it a nice homey touch. Very close to a gorgeous beach, and a short walk to main street. Parking is tight in back, but manageable. Oddly, only place we stayed during this trip that wanted full... More

LOCATION: Great location facing a local beach. A short walk to restaurants. Free outdoor car park. HOTEL: Very friendly host. Fast check-in. Bright, but dirty room and bathroom. Decent beds. Skimpy pillows. CONCLUSION: Old, dirty room and bathroom. Not recommended.

While travelling around the North Island, the natural attributes of Mount Maunganui changed a planned quick drive through into a must stay for a night. Next problem was to find comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. We were lucky enough to stumble upon Ocean Waves which while costing a little more than we are in the habit of paying turned... More

This was a mess, the room was not very clean, the bathroom had paper hanging off the walls, and the fridge had rust all over the outside of the door. We did book in for two nights, but after the first night, we knew we had to leave, parties in the next room, not clean, lots of road noise, even... More

Booked in for two nights ,,absent owner left the key in the room as arriving late ,got no sleep as neighbours had guests on our shared balcony right outside our room. ,,which I know is not his fault but he's not there ,waited for the attendant ,told them first thing in the morning we couldn't stay another night but were... I spent my New Years period there with some friends and my father. We had told him we had 7 people staying but are likely to have a few extras. He agreed and told us it was only $50/extra person/night. We arrived and app on arriving Bruce demanded the extra people pay him FULL price which was $385 for the... More

This is a reply to the above complaint to Physico Host Beware!!! Do Not Stay Here. The first year Jack (their father) & his 2 daughters stayed in a upstairs beachfront studio unit in 2011/2012. We had no problem. This year 2012/2013 Jack had made a booking for 2 units,. a 2 bedroom ground floor front unit, that sleeps 5... More

The FOR SALE sign outside says it all! "FOR DEMOLITION or Do-up" The only positive thing I can think to say is that it is in a good position across the road to the beach. No attendant in the office - you have to ring when you arrive.Ten minute wait for someone to come by car from somewhere else. The unit... More

Our stay this time was a last minute choice, although I have stayed here some years back. Our host Bruce was very keen to make sure we were comfortable and nothing was a problem. I agree with a previous review that the fan in the bathroom was slightly annoying, in fact it wasn't ours...it was in the unit next door.... More

Reasonably price motel. Studio room was clean, tidy. Bathroom was very small, but for one night it did not worry us. Kitchen was also compact but all you need for a short stay. One big negative was that the fan in the bathroom goes on when you turn on the light. The noise is horrible. You certainly dont want to... More
