It is really difficult to describe a place as unique as the Poronui Lodge. Our visits (two so far) to the lodge certainly rank very high in our “best holiday” list. And there are many reasons: accommodation is lovely, just the way you would expect it for a high class fishing and hunting lodge. The dining and lounge areas are... More

This November will be our 3rd trip to Poronui, our favorite New Zealand fishing lodge. Eve, her staff and the guides sole goal is to insure that you have an outstanding experience at the lodge and streams that’s truly memorable in every aspect. This is a quality fishing lodge with excellent food, accommodations, and ambience without being pretentious. Informality is... More

My wife and I have now been coming to Poronui for the past four years. It truly is the gold standard by which all lodges in NZ should be judged. We have stayed at many different lodges and nobody works harder to ensure your expectations are met by customizing the needs of your outing. All this is done without the... More

My husband and I have been returning to Poronui Ranch on the North Island to fish every December/January since 2003! This handsome, small lodge places the emphasis on providing guided fishing on crystal clear mountain streams for very large trout. The excellence of the fishing brings avid sportsmen (and sports women) back time after time. Although fishing on the property... More

We spent about a week at Poronui over Christmas, 2013. It would be difficult to imagine a more perfect stay. The accommodations were comfortable without feeling fussy. Food and wine were abundant and delicious. We caught beautiful browns right on the property, and browns and larger rainbows in a nearby fly-out stream. The range of fishing opportunities is magical. At... More

A good friend and I have just returned from enjoying Poronui's perfectly pitched hospitality - a subtle mixture of relaxed luxury blended with the outdoor wilderness where the rest of the world ceased to exist for three perfect days. We spent two nights at the lodge and one at the simply superb safari camp, not only enjoying the magnificent fishing... More

My co-host and I brought 8 couples to Poronui in mid-November 2013. It was a golf and fly fishing trip and Poronui was our fishing stop. During our 5-day stay, some of the couples were keen to fish everyday but others wanted to take part in other activities. As a professional fly fishing guide in Colorado and host of other... More

Pleased your group discovered the thrill of the fly outs. The flights themselves are worth the experience. See you in 2014. More

I was fortunate enough to guide a group of 16 guests through New Zealand in November of 2013. Being an American and having spent 3+ years in New Zealand working at Luxury Lodges throughout I've witnessed some great properties and hospitality. I had never visited Poronui before staying there for 5 days with my guests. I can honestly tell you... More

My husband and I , both avid fly-fishers, have visited New Zealand for 3 weeks every Nov. for the past 6 years. Poronui is the only spot that is always on our itinerary. Fishing on the property is varied and first- rate and the flyouts leave right from the front yard and in 10-20 minutes you are fishing some of... More
