We were greeted at the entrance by the manager with "Air gun" (for howareyougoing in Australian) - very funny. What to say? Relaxed, charming, beautiful, stylish - perfect. Nothing is a concern, anything that is possible is a done thing. Truely a lodge in every sense, old time elegance. Stayed 4 days, not enough for me! For a treat, arrive... More

This is a very fine hotel. The place is beautiful inside and out. The staff is excellent. The rooms or beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and have great views of the river. You can open your door and walk right to the river bank. I tried my hand at a little fishing right in front of our room. Rooms have all... More

Stayed two nights in September in a Junior Lodge Suite. This is a remarkable Lodge with so much history. The architecture, the setting, the ambiance are unmatched anywhere, but it does have its flaws. Every room faces the river and you can literally walk out your door and drop a fishing line in and find yourself catching trout. But you... More

My husband and I stayed at Huka Lodge in January for 4 days whilst on an extended holiday in New Zealand. With its beautiful gardens, in which we dined care of a wonderful chef, Paul Froggatt, it became one of our favourite experiences.

I visited last year for my honeymoon. The match of a spectacular scenery, the hotel and the service makes this hotel one of the most beautiful hotels I visited in my life. All our dinners in different beautiful areas are memorable. I recommend this hotel.

We stayed 4 nights this Easter weekend and the lodge was running at capacity. Only negative is the lack of privacy in the rooms as fellow hotel guests walk in front of rooms which means that if you want privacy, you need to close the curtains which you don't want to have to given the beautiful location. Highly professional and... More

Huka Lodge has been on my 'must do' list for many years. I'm originally from Taupo and normally stay with family, staring wistfully over the river at the lodge. It goes without saying that the surroundings are absolutely divine, and the gardens are immaculate. The lodge and the rooms are well appointed, and the view from almost every window is... More

Hands down one of the finest hotels I have had the opportunity to experience in the world. The lodge is a preppy combination of Dutch and Old English style with dark greens and plaid patterns dominating the décor. The grounds were a lush, green wonderland. We stayed in a luxurious bungalow nestled on the shores of the river that runs... More

There's a fine rhythm to things at Huka Lodge. Breakfast and dinner seem to occur every day, ritualistically, without ever feeling tired or rehearsed -- though you can be certain the staff takes great care to ensure each meal hits the perfect note. The setting is both private and communal, in a good way. The guest who holds himself (or... More
