my husband and i have just returned from a weekend at Huka, and I have to say that we were not disappointed. the location is utterly spectacular, it feels like another kind of new zealand. the lodge itself is oozing with history and luxury. the cabins along the river are cosy and comfortable ( no tv but you can request... more

Service, food, setting, rooms - all were fabulous. You get what you pay for. Yes, it's expensive but worth it. We loved it and we will return. more

We decided to spend a few days at Huka to recharge our pretty exhausted 'batteries'. It worked a charm. My partner usually takes three days to switch off but on the first day at Huka he asked if he could move in! We ate in a different private location each night - outdoors by the open fire, in the wine... more

I looked for somewhere special to take my hubby for his 40th and decided on Huka. I was somewhat anxious since there are some less than nice reviews about the place. But, from the moment we arrived, the service couldn't have been more attentive. The setting is beautiful and the cottages are just amazing. The food was absolutely 5 star... more

Wow.....if you have this sort of money....spend it.....in a heart beat! Fantastic experience from the moment we arrived, being greeted and escorted to a warm fire and hot chocolate. Staff were wonderful. Lodging was amazing. Huge, comfortable and luxurious. The photo's say it all! Your view from your front porch makes you never want to leave, accompanied by room service... more

My wife and I decided to stay a night at Huka Lodge after hearing a 10/10 recommendation from a friend visiting from the UK who stayed several months prior. We are local Kiwi's - we live about 2hrs drive from Taupo. Upon arrival we met with the hotel manager who gave us a tour of Huka and explained it's history.... more

We stayed at Huka Lodge on one of our stops on our honeymoon and couldnt have been more pleased - in fact, we wished we had stayed an extra day or two. Whilst there is no doubting that some of the staff were fresh out of school, we did not feel that this impaired the atmosphere (and in fact added... more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Huka Lodge for a portion of our honeymoon touring Australia and New Zealand. Of the 6 different hotels we stayed in throughout of trip, the Huka was the only one that disappointed. Ironically, it was also the most expensive. (almost $2000US a night) I don’t usually go out of my way to... more

The Huka Lodge is a splendid country house along the main river which drains Lake Taupo. It reminds a much on a british countryhouse, the rooms and the garden are really stylish but still traditional. All rooms face towards the river which is really a great scenery to wake up every morning und walk along the wonderful shoreline to the... more
