Our family enjoyed five days of pre-Christmas relaxation at this wonderful spot and would have enjoyed more if it wasn't for the No Vacancy sign. Sue was a wonderful hostess and the bach (5) was a good size for our family of 4. The kids loved using the kayaks and having access to the boiler room where we also bbq'd... More

The lovely owner Sue gave us a great welcome using our names & real good handshake. We knew we were going to spend 2 happy days here. Our cute Bach was very comfortable with all that we required & more. Felt like going back in time !!!! Very clean, quiet & a place that you did not want to be... More

We just enjoyed four days of bliss at Waitahanui lodge. It really is the perfect batch get away, with well appointed kitchen (everything we needed was there), comfortable beds, brand new bathroom ( we stayed in room 4), and great hosts. My husband could try his hand at fly fishing for the first time, and some great advice from Sue... More

Thank you so much for taking time to post a review and so glad you had such a relaxing time here. You were such easy going guests and the room was so immaculate when you left that I was hard pressed to find something to clean. We would love to have you back to stay. More

Another wonderful, warm hostess. The room was perfect and well appointed. The location is great, south of town but not too far. The location on the beach was perfect. We did make use of the BBQ to cook up the last of our fish. Really, just another great vacation rental for a good rate.

Thankyou for taking the time to review us. As soon as I read about cooking up the fish I remembered who you were! You gave us a huge plateful of snapper and terakihi that's you'd caught elsewhere. You don't often get given seafood in a trout fishing area. In fact I think it was a first for us! It was... More

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and two boys aged 10 and 12. Gorgeous original Bach that has been done up to be very comfortable and modern inside with everything you would need. We stayed in no. 3 which was on the lake and to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine while the kids ran around... More

To you and the last few reviews that I haven't responded to. We are so glad that you find our little lodge a lovely place to stay. We know the location is tops and love the idea of guests being able to experience what its like to stay in the quintessential "kiwi bach". We continue to improve on the facilities... More

We rented a lakefront unit with a kitchen (sorry, can't remember the number). The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The location is outside the city and is peaceful. It was a lovely place to stay - unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for outdoor activities, but at least we had a nice room to stay in and... More

Only unit 5 was available at the timing of booking. We arrived much earlier than stated and luckily Sue was there to check us in. We departed hastily for our 5 pm Lake Taupo cruise and almost didn't come back in time for the sunset. While it is not a lakefront unit, unit 5 is equally lovely. I like it... More

I am so pleased we chose the lodge over other accommodation in the center of Taupo. The access to the lake is unprecedented and exceptionally private. We were travelling with our son who is a busy toddler and it is a real joy to wake up in the morning and walk straight to the clean sandy lake edge. The Bach... More

Once again we have just experienced the best Taupo has to offer. The Fishing Lodge at Waitahanui on Lake Taupo is indeed the most enjoyable and relaxing spot to stay at the Lake. We have stayed many times, and in three of the five 'rooms'. The two right on the lake front are true bliss, but even Room 1 beside... More

Thanks for your great review Audrey. Its always nice to see guests return and even though a lakefront cottage wasn't an option this time, its great to see you were able to enjoy the bbq area and take some great photos. More

I had great expectations of Waitahanui Lodge after discovering their website and we were not disappointed. I thoroughly recommend chalet 4 in particular, which is virtually on the beach of Lake Taupo. With plenty of glass and patio doors to the lounge, you can enjoy the great view from the settee or while sitting outside on the small terrace. There... More

I've just read your review and you've really made my day! Thankyou for your very kind remarks about our lodge and my hospitality. I only did what anyone would do under the circumstances. I hoped I was able to turn your unfortunate experience into a nice memory of Taupo. More
