The Devon is a well laid out hotel, tastefully furnished. Near but not on the seafront. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. There is a nice atmosphere regarding the staff. They all seem to like each other and like their job which included liking the guests. the way it should be but doesn't always happen! Makes you... More

No air con in our room!! The room wasn't very welcoming and wasn't all that clean. No room service meals available. Our room was at the back of the hotel, meaning it was peaceful. But it may also be where all the daggy rooms are!! Much better hotel in the area!!!

Thanks for joining us, and for your feedback. We are proud to be the home to a popular food and beverage operation, with members of our kitchen brigade on deck 24/7 to ensure room service is available around the clock. . I'm disappointed that wasn't made clear to you or that our in-room menus were not brought to your attention.... More

My wife and I travelled down to New Plymouth to visit the Festival of Lights (very good) and chose to stay the night at The Devon. Very pleased we did, the hotel is modern and bright, laid out generously with lots of space, it also has a very good buffet restaurant. We found the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.... This is a great family hotel, with good facilities. Excellent staff, and quick to remedy small troubles (Room key troubles). The room had two double beds, bathroom with amazing shower pressure, and a view overlooking the garden. We were surprised at no air conditioning, but upon reading some of these reviews we note that this is being remedied soon. The... More

I've been in The Devon hotel last Christmas Eve. The room was tidy and clean. Service is nice, although sometime you have to wait in the lounge for 3-5 minutes because there is no receptionist :( The hotel has a nice hot tub and a swimming pool which is a little bit deep (1.5m) for the kids. It should be... More

It's a comfortable modern hotel, a place to stay while in New Plymouth. Good facilities, though the small pool was crowded with children running, jumping, diving etc while we were there. Comfortable beds. Garden rooms away from road are better than external road view rooms, but light and noise is well controlled. Free WiFi. The internal bathroom follows the current... More

Good accommodation. Small rooms, but ideal for one if traveling by yourself. Clean rooms and good set up. Very comfortable. Nice pool and facilities. Best to ask for a room which is not facing the main road, as you can get a little traffic noise. Recommended.

We were very disappointed when we checked into this hotel. The upstairs rooms had no lift access which made it difficult as we had four suitcases. The rooms also had no air conditioning or ceiling fans (only a very noisy portable fan) and the one window only opened 15 cm so we were hot (we're from Far North Qld in... More

Hi, Many thanks for taking the trouble to give feedback. I'm disappointed your e-posting on check-in didn't come through immediately, so we could have moved you to one of our air-conditioned rooms (or our team didn't pick up on your desire to move rooms). Your room is one of the last in that wing to be completely refurbished (including full... More

I write this as I sit in this.....coffin and wonder if it is value for money. I have had 2 nights at Lockwood Manor down the road this week and could not get a third because I left booking too late so moved to the Devon for one night. The Lockwood Manor is $135/night and the Devon is $149/night. The... More

Comfortable, Marbles buffet restaurant very expensive with poor service. Rooms were comfortable with adequate space and good condiments. Staff were all friendly and hotel in a good location with sea views.

Thanks for joining us and taking the trouble to offer feedback. In addition to our popular Mables self service buffet, we have a number of options where your order is taken, then prepared and served where you wish - in the garden, poolside, the lounge, your room - you name it. We 'd love to see you back soon. More
