After months of research and reading TA reviews, I found The Regent of Rotorua top on my list. It won out over several well-known, much larger accommodations. I prefer smaller, intimate lodgings, where guests feel well, like guests, rather than "room number XXX". The Regent is about a 3-block walk from the iSite Tourist Information Center. I stepped off the... more

The first view is of a building site at the moment but a very friendly welcome from Buddy in the temporary reception - making sure we had all the information we needed for our stay in Rotorua and personally taking us to our room - made us pleased we had chosen the Regent. I hadn't realised that there is no... more

The Regent of Rotorua had the best service! Prior to arriving, we asked if they could book us for a Hangi Dinner and within 5 minutes Darren emailed, "Consider it Done!" You gotta love that! Upon arrival, (I forget his name, I feel so terrible because we spoke to him so often and he was super helpful - lets just... more

Really nice room, with great decor. No view. You shouldnt judge this place by the outside. Bathroom could do with some underfloor heating as it was cold. Modern and lovely. Close to food and bars. Very helpful staff. A great place. Please note that the score is in comparison to 14 other hotels/B&Bs we stayed in during a 3 week... more

On arrival at the hotel, I have to say we were a little worried as it is a 1950's 2 storey concrete block, don't get me wrong there has been a lot of work done and the outside does look good but we were worried because it is a motel style. These worries were very quickly dispelled. At the moment... more

This hotel is fabulous! The room is very newly renovated, modern and chic..The bed are very soft and comfortable. We felt very welcome upon checking in and the service is great! A nice choice and there are many restaurants just within walking distance from the hotel. Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone stopping over at Rotorua! more

We had a lovely stay at the Regent, and all I can say is don't be put off by the external picture, inside is a whole different story. The rooms have been done up beautifully, very clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to everything you could want and away from the hotel "strip". Buddy was wonderful and very welcoming,... more

The website for the Regent states the hotel is where style, glamour and location meet. It doesn't quite live up to the hype. It's ok, but it's more Ikea than Hotel du Vin. That's not to say it's not very comfortable and reasonable value, it just doesn't quite deliver on what you expect from the website. more

We stayed at Regent for one night in June, and on the whole enjoyed our stay. We were in a Studio Room, which was well appointed, quite modern, and stylish. During the time of our stay there were some signs of ongoing development work, but the price seemed to reflect the ongoing development and didn’t really impact on our stay. more

The Regent is absolutely spot on when they say they are bringing glamour to Rotorua. This wonderful gem of a place offers luxury, glamour and all the comforts one would expect in fabulous accommodation. The rooms have been completely renovated and are gorgeous...be sure to book a suite, they are fantastic! Loads of space, great furnishings, fittings are high quality... more
