Sometimes, by the time I get round to submitting a review, I see little point as I have nothing to add. In this case I agree with the majority of the reviews - friendly, well kept, with good facilities, but could be modernised - however that would raise it a price bracket. The thing I can add is about the... More

Our second stay here, it still is a very well kept clean motel. Suitable for us and our grandchildren. The spa was so handy to units 21 and to 2 we could supervise children from our kitchen. We love the healing hot mineral pools at this motel as they are the same as the water at the spa in Queen... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in March in a one-bedroom apartment. As others have mentioned the place is a little tired but the central location, lot of space in the apartment, nice cleaning, friendly staff and the pool, spa and hot pool more then offset this. Also the rate was very reasonable so would definately stay here again if we... More

The Ambassador is an older motel that is, in the words of another reviewer, a bit tired. As an example, the shower had stains and discoloration that come from age and can't be removed with scrubbing. Otherwise, our room was clean and everything worked. The furniture was in good condition, and the kitchen was well-equipped. The motel has an indoor... More

A two night stay with 3 children (two teenagers and a 10 year old). This is a motel which is rather tired but it's positive aspects far outweigh this fact. It is centrally based, near Eat Street and with a lovely cafe along the road from the motel. It is also a very short walk across a reserve to the... More

Stayed in the two bedroom unit for a girls weekend - had everything we needed - small lounge and kitchen, two bedrooms (1 double and a single, and 2 singles) and a bed in the lounge. 2 toilets, and the pool outside. Great for walking into town, pool was warm and great for a post-night out swim. Very reasonably priced.... More

We had a very nice room with a lake view. The room was clean, had a separate bedroom with twin beds in the living room. Plenty of hot water and kitchen had everything we needed. A short walk to the restaurants. Very quiet and the managers we're very helpful. We would stay here again

Stayed for 2 nights on a tour of NZ. Great welcome the host is very helpful and the rooms are massive with 3 beds in ours for just the 2 of us. A well fitted kitchen great location for the waterfront and "eat street" where there are some great restaurants. The hotel is next to the Government gardens and museum... More

The most spacious 1 bdrm we have ever stayed in! A great location close to the lake and to town. Friendly helpful owners and clean, tidy rooms. A great value for money choice. Our room had lovely big windows with views towards the lake - although with the old hospital in front. I recommend room no 7.
