In the off season and we had the run of the place. We were greeted by Gina with brownies and tea. Convenient lakeside location, not too far away from Eat Street and all the activities on SH 5, but far enough away to feel secluded. Breakfast was wonderful with a good assortment that both the kids and adults could enjoy.... More

This is our last night in Koura Lodge and we are sad to be leaving to continue our journey throughout the North Island of New Zealand. The Koura Lodge has a first class location, right on the shore line of Lake Rotorua. The hosts Gina and David are exceptional, friendly, helpful but not too intrusive, a brilliant balance. The accommodation... More

My boyfriend proposed to me while staying here in December 2013 so it will always be a special place for the both of us. Unknown to me, he had carefully researched this hotel as somewhere which I would love and he had been in contact with Kim for months arranging every tiny detail....it didn't disappoint. Despite the poor weather while... More

We stayed a few days as this was our kick off point for quite a few activities. Kura Lodge was lovely, The room was large and very tidy. Starting to age a bit but still very presentable and not a complaint. The breakfast was excellent and we felt very comfortable and at home. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Niall... More

I stayed at Koura Lodge very early during my 17-day stay in New Zealand and it set the tone for the rest of the trip to follow. Although I would have many other nice experiences at other B&B's and Lodges to follow, none of them surpassed my time at Koura Lodge. Arriving late the first evening, i was greeted by... More

Nothing is too much trouble for Gina or Kim. This place is spotlessly clean. Thoughtful but unobtrusive service. Excellent! Had two fabulous nights here, would have happily spent two weeks here! Breakfast was a delight, the generous and varied items were beautifully presented.

The room looking over the lawn to the lake was special and the morning sunrise beautiful. The room was superb (next to the office) and the hosts very special. Far away from the town centre but easy to get to for the evening meal this was a magic place. The breakfasts were superb and sitting in the sun was abonus.

We were told on the website that we would have tea etc on arrival, did not happen, no issues with that. From parking area to room at night is pitch dark maybe at the exorbitant charges a light/s could be installed. Next day found spider webs all over deck chairs. When we decided to use the spa, you could potentially... More

This was our favorite lodging of our two week trip to New Zealand. We loved that it was far enough north of city center that odor was not a problem. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and our room had a lovely view. We especially enjoyed the breakfasts and the welcome coffee with brownies on the day of our arrival. Our... More

We unfortunately arrived here as cyclone Luci arrived and had 2 solid days of rain, this meant we couldn't really enjoy the beautiful view over the lake. The room itself was great as was the bathroom. A little noisy as the rain fell but we were greeted by a really cheerful receptionist who asked what we wanted to see while... More
