The moment we arrived we loved the look and feel of the Colonial house oozing with character - it is very welcoming and picturesque and has been lovingly restored retaining many original features. Our room was clean, big and airy and the large bathroom was the original conservatory with stained glass windows. It is a good place to relax. John... More

Robertson House has a genuine colonial feel to it with original wooden floors and ceilings but excellent decor gives it a light and airy feel. 5 mins driveand 30 mins walk from centre of Rotorua. Very helpful and informative host.

We were given a great welcome by John who made us a cup of tea with cake which we enjoyed on our veranda and then John asked what we liked to do, which was walking, he made some great recommendations to us based on this. The house is a beautiful period building which has been wonderfully restored and we felt... More

Robertson House is a charming house in Rotorua. It is really close to the main attractions of the city and our room and bathroom were huge and confortable. But the best part of it, as most of the reviews have told, was John, the host. He is one of the nicest people we have met in NZ. He gave us... More

Robertson house is a property of real character which happens to be run by a real character too! John is a charming, helpful host who makes his guests feel really welcome. The house dates back to about 1880 and is the New Zealand equivalent of a listed building. Our room opened on to a delightful balcony. The furnishings were in... More

We had read the glowing reviews of the Robertson House on TripAdvisor before our visit to New Zealand, so we knew we were in for a treat. It certainly didn't disappoint. John is the consummate host, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our down time in Rotorua, sitting in the lounge with him, just chatting like old friends. Our room and... More

As per the other reviews, this is a delightful house with a lot of historic charm. John, the host, is a lovely man with a lot of information about the area and things to do. His dog Loki is probably the most adorable fluff-ball you'll ever see. We were in the "Gold" room, I think. It has a beautiful big... More

We stayed here for only one night wished it had been more. Our host was John, who was friendly and helpful. The house had been restored beautifully with very idividual rooms and bathrooms. Location was good, we wish we could have stayed longer.

The highlight of our visit to Rotorua was staying in Robertson House and enjoying the company of our charming host, John, and Loki, his very special dog. The house has been lovingly restored to provide beautiful period rooms with great bathrooms. It was a wonderful contrast to the very modern centre of Rotorua, but close enough to walk to restaurants... More
