At the very beginning of this year my parents and I visited Rotorua as the last leg of a two-week tour of New Zealand. Rotorua is a very quaint place though what made the last three nights of our trip magic was staying at Hamurana Lodge. Being a very frequent traveler, I rarely get excited about a hotel. Arriving at... More

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy Rotorua. "Pooey!" said more than one friend, in reference to the sometimes-sulfurous geothermal parks which are a major attraction of the area. Nonetheless, we had a very enjoyable few days here, and a lot of that was to do with our choice of accommodation: the Hamurana Lodge. Hamurana is outside the main town... More

I am just echoing what other reviewers have to say now- Fred and Alex were such wonderful hosts on this beautiful property in Rotorua. They were so helpful with planning out and booking for our itinerary and very understanding of what we were looking for. The grounds are perfect for short walks around with the gorgeous garden landscaping, art sculptures... More

Haumanua Lodge turned out to be an excellent choice for the celebration of our 24th anniversary. Alex & Fred were delightful hosts. They couldn't have done more to make our stay more enjoyable. They really knew the area and suggested beautiul walks near the lodge. Great food from chef Charlie Brown. Excellent spa bath. More

My fiancee and I stayed for two nights in this beautiful lodge. The quiet ambience of the private environment was perfectly complemented by the five-star service provided by the staff of the hotel. Never have we felt so welcomed outside of our own home. Fred and Alex were never hesitant to offer their service from the moment we drove up... More

The amazing hospitality at Hamurana started with Alex coming out to greet me as my taxi arrived. I was shown to my room which was spacious and clean with great views over the grounds. Having settled in I was given a tour of the lodge and invited to join my hosts for a drink. I was made to feel so... More

My Husband and I visited the restaurant for dinner and I can honestly say it was the best meal I have had in New Zealand. Perfect lamb, and the beef was mouth watering - and as for the chocolate desert - heaven on a plate!! Charlie (the chef) came out to talk us through the meal and the organic focus... More

If you are heading to Rotorua - this should be your stop. We stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights during our honeymoon, and this was our 2nd stop. Upon arrival, you are greeted by one of the hosts (Charlie or Jenna), and immediately offered a beverage and a tour of the grounds. Although there are 10 rooms, we really... More
