We stayed 10 years ago and it was nice here, so we came back. The hot pool pump has apparently been broken for months. All of the parks looked tired and unkempt, old and in need of updating. The cabins are smelly and look really uncared for. The public amenities are in desperate need of an update In a town... More

We stayed in an ensuite cabin. The beds were comfortable, the stools and table were not, a chair would have been better. It was good to have a kettle, and TV but would have appreciated more cutlery and a couple of bowls for our breakfast!! We were disappointed with the lack of hot mud pools. The site is convenient for... More

We stayed at this camp site on Monday 17th March 2014. We stayed in our caravan, I have to say the trees are lovely, but we had had a storm on the weekend and all these dead branches had fallen to the ground which was very dangerous when having to make my way to the toilet in poorly lighten area... The camping area was very pretty and had excellent access to the kitchen, eating area, a separate computer/sitting room and toilets/showers. The kitchen was clean and functional, and the indoor tables provided a nice place to eat but not always to try to have a conversation because of the TV. I would like to discourage holiday parks from putting the... More

We stayed in a 3 bedroom cabin for 3 nights. .. may as well have slept on the concrete outside which would have been more comfortable. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone other than as a campsite. It's right in the stinkiest part of Rotorua also. All in all id rather spend more money and stay somewhere nicer. Wouldn't go back... More

The location of this camp site is great and the price you pay for this is very reasonable. We rented a 2 berth cabin, which had all the basics that we required for 2 nights. There is no fridge in the cabin if you are considering staying longer. The lady at reception was extremely helpful and polite. It was a... More

The whole reason we booked this site was to use the hot pools - upon arrival we were advised that they weren't working. By the look of the signs around the site, this was not new news, but we hadn't been advised when booking. Facilities were dated, dirty and insufficient - there were about 20 toilets in the ladies' main... More

We have killed a lot of cockroaches and we haven't even gone to bed yet!.... can't find anyone to talk to about the infestation because we were a late arrival. Our cabin is so dirty, has cracks in the walls and a front door that doesn't shut properly. If we could leave & get a refund now we would.... let's... More

Sorry to hear your stay was not up to your satisfaction. We are how ever a park surrounded by native bush and trees. Your cabin you stayed in, the KCabs are the older units which are tucked away next to fully grown trees. The park is the oldest park in Rotorua with protected Native trees which are marked by the... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park is the oldest motor camp in Rotorua. It was established by the Rotorua Borough Council in the mid-1920s, and was originally known as the "Rotorua Borough Motor Camp". From its establishment in the 1920s through until about the late-1950s, the Holiday Park was originally located further north at the corner of Old Taupo Road and Sophia Street. It moved to its present location, opposite the Arikikapakapa Golf Course, in the early 1960s. The site of the Holiday Park was originally gifted to the Crown by the local Maori people under the "Fenton Agreement" of 25 November, 1880, for recreational purposes. Currently the Thermal Hot Pools are out of order due to new thermal pump arriving from overseas. We apologize for the inconvenience. Surrounded by Protected Native trees Rotorua Thermal Holiday park is the ideal place to stay. Cafe now open and mountain bike hire available. ... more   less
