I've just been staying at the Blarney's Rock Backpackers in Rotorua. I'm Irish and I've been travelling for a bit so it was nice to stay somewhere I felt welcome and even if just for a short time, part of a little family. It's not the swankiest of hostels (but then what hostel is) but it is very clean and... More

Stayed in an 8 share mixed dorm, sufficiently comfortable bed, clean rooms. There is an absolutely lovely communal area with a dining table and couches surrounding at tv - it's just like being at home in your own lounge room! It is also small enough that everyone gets to know eachother and share stories. Reliable free wifi too which was... More

I first stayed at Blarney's Rock after reading all the good reviews on TA and went back a couple more time since. I always been avoiding the big and noisy hostel and this one was just perfect for me; nice clean and quiet. Lots of free things; coffee, tea, milk, wifi, huge range of spices, ... The staff is really... More

Followed trip advisor decided to pick this hostel, and really glad we did. Really good location in rotorua, free internet, good sized rooms and communal spaces, and kept reasonably quiet and comfortable. Great value, and all you could need from a hostel, would stay here again.

Location is good which is only a block away from the i-site. Staffs are friendly and helpful. They also suggest different activities to join weekly(of course you have to pay for it). It might be a little bit noisy at night as it is above a bar, but that's fine for me.

I stayed at this hostel for one week and I loved the location - walking distance to the lake, to Eat Street, to the Government Gardens, Thursday night Night Markets, to Kuirau Park, to Pak N Save. Bathrooms were clean and my room was satisfactory - bed was very comfy and bigger than expected (I was in a private room).... More

I was on a night bus when I got off Rotorua and was warmly welcomed although it was late. Very clean, small and cozy hostel. Everything was kind of self-contained which made it really accessible. Location was great too as it was near the i-site and not far from shops, etc. The staff definitely made it an enjoyable stay!

Couldn't get to sleep due to noise from the live music bar downstairs. Great location and cheap for Nz but no good if you can't sleep. Also the bedrooms are directly off the common area so if there are noisy guests out there you'll know about that too. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.

Reasonably priced double room. The hostel is really small with only a few rooms so any noise in the lounge filters into the room. Fortunately the other guests kept the noise to a minimum after 9 pm. Lots of freebies including tea, coffee, spices and wifi. There were two sets of bathrooms, unisex and female. God for one or nights... More

Myself and a friend stayed at this hostel for two nights in May and found it friendly, clean and very comfortable. We wanted to book a private room but they were sold out so went for a 4 bed dorm. We were very lucky as had no one else in with us throughout our stay. The room we had was... More
