This hotel is a bit dark and dingy- definitely showing it's age. It doesn't have an ocean view and it's priced a bit higher than it's competitors. After staying here I stayed at the Admiral's View Lodge- a much better bet..the rooms are much bigger, brighter and cleaner with fabulous water views.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our tour around North Island. We were very impressed with the standard of the accommodation which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the location was wonderful with easy free parking. What particularly impressed us was the service we received from Phil the owner after we vacated the hotel. We managed to leave... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst enjoying our stay in the Bay of Islands. The welcome was great and both owners very friendly and helpful. They will book activities for you, although we used the iSite at the wharf. The room was quite compact and is older style but clean and well equipped and serviced daily. It... More

my friend and I stayed four nights in Jan, and we loved every minute of it. Maureen and Phil were like our friends and we seemed to take to each other straight away. We were in there private Bach, and it was lovely, spotless and comfortable, everything we needed. The location too was perfect. Thankyou to you both for a... More

We stayed here for one night on our week in New Zealand! Location was good. It is an older facility. The carpet was not the cleanest and the small couch could use a cleaning. The hosts were wonderful and helpful and gave us good suggestions for eating places. There was parking available for cars.

The title says it all really. 3 if us stayed here and Phil welcomed us on arrival and booked the cruise we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and serviced every day. Location is only a 3 minute walk from the wharf, shops, and great restaurants. We particularly enjoyed Green's Indian & Thai. Would definitely stay... More

On arriving we were met with a very friendly welcome. Lots of helpful information of where to eat and things to do. Fresh milk was provided for the very needed cuppa. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Some friends had stayed here a couple of years ago and recommended it to us, it certainly lived up to its... More

We stayed here for 8 days in a corner self catering suite with an ocean view. The rooms were comfortable, very clean, had free wifi, and the motel is within walking distance of shops, grocery stores, the ferry, bus stop, restaurants..all a tourist could ask for. Maureen and Phil could not have been more accommodating! We feel like we have... More

Having travelled extensively over the years in the North Island i would rate the Swiss Chalet as being one of the best motels i have had the pleasure of staying in. This was our second stay at the Swiss Chalet in as many years . The hosts Phil and Maureen are very friendly and helpful . On both occasions we... More
