This is a top little business. If you saw the outside you may think twice. Do not think twice!! Our unit had two bedrooms, an eating/sleeping area and a well equipped kitchen. A rear door leads to a bbq area and clothes drying. Laundry (at minimal cost) is underneat the units. Each unit has a front seating area with a... More

Thank you Valerie, that is a lovely review - and I appreciate you taking the time. We are in that situation, of do not judge a book by it's cover and I have made changes to try and minimise that - however the building is an older style. Thankfully, we don't expect our guests to sleep outside. (Any potential guests,... More

Hello fellow travellers! My mother, cousin and I travelled from Canada in September 2015. We had a fantastic time in New Zealand and look forward to going back. We drove from Auckland with many stops on the way to our first destination on the north arm of the North island: Paihia. Upon arriving, Barbara warmly welcomed us with open arms... More

Thank you Sasha, I remember that well - and I am so glad it all worked out. New Zealand is a safe country, and people do strive to do the right thing. It is good that you have a positive story to tell - rather than a bad one. I look forward to seeing you all again, hopefully arriving next... More

We spent one month in NZ driving around both north and south island, the longest stay was 3 days. We only spent one night here but she made us feel like we were her best customers, we hated to leave to continue on our agenda. This place was one of the most peaceful home feeling places we stayed in NZ.

Barbara is a great host. Although she was a bit stressed when we arrived but we started talking and all was ok. The apartments each have their own carport.....we had an average looking large car.....if you have a nice car you don't want scratched then this is the place for you.......yes your own car space. Other reviews have complained about... More

Thank you JH, for taking the time to post a review. A bit stressed - ooh dear, not sure why that was, glad we were able to talk and you could get to know the regular me! All our rooms are up one level, with parking underneath, and as you rightly say, with 2 entrances to each room, you get... More

We were allocated Room 6 - a two bedroom apartment. The outside aspect was very pleasant and the interior was clean and provided everything required for a short or longer stay. We were not blessed with great weather but my son and his girlfriend still managed a midnight dip in the ocean which is a 5 minutes stroll downhill. Not... More

Thank you Lynne, it was a pleasure to have you all here, and a midnight dip - well I am not aware of any of my guests doing that before, so there is a first!! I hope the sun continues to shine, for the rest of your holiday. We have sunshine back in the bay today. Warm regards Barbara More

The 2 bed apartment we had was great for 5 of us. Spacious and clean with all mod cons and amenities. Loved the communal outdoor area with a large cupboard full of DVDs which we made good use of since the weather we had was terrible! The owner was super friendly and we felt well looked after. Would definitely recommend!

Clean comfortable quiet situated in an elevated position with marine and countryside views yet only two minutes by car from central Paihia. Firstly you will be impressed by the standard of the accommodation and secondly by Barbara who describes herself as the manageress. She is so friendly and helpful and made us feel really special. Good luck for the future... More

The perfect place to stay in Paihia. The motel is on the outskirts of town with beautiful, peaceful views all around, way more pleasant and restful than looking across a parking lot, a road, shops or restaurants. The rooms are super clean and well appointed. Some of the bathrooms have been renovated and they are exceptional. At the back door... More

Close to the main strip of Paihia (quick drive or short walk) and well-appointed and self contained for those who prefer to stay inside. Decent views of hilltop sunsets and a communal outdoor area (with barbecue) in the back. A convenient gem and very accommodating with the ability to just close up and walk away the next morning.

A terrific sea view from every immaculate room + a friendly greeting and very helpful tips/advice from the lovely manageress Barbara - what more could you ask for? I turned up on spec to stay for 3 nights and ended up staying a week! A perfect base from which to explore this gorgeous part of New Zealand
