Such a great spot, friendly helpful staff. Kayaks and bikes for hire, great outdoor area to chill with a spa as well. We would stay here again, was nice and quiet as well the only thing was the pressure in our shower wasn't the greatest but didn't bother us to much.

I stayed here for a week in November. While the weekly rate was the cheapest around, the hostel was dirty and smelly. In a dorm room of 5 people, our floor was not vacuumed once and our bin was not emptied once, despite it overflowing. The kitchen smelled too. The management was friendly and the price cheap, but overall not... More

When visiting the Bay of Islands for a week recently, I stayed at the Centabay Lodge in Paihia. Two good points were that the room was comfortable and guests respected the requirement to be quiet after 10pm so as not to disturb other guests. There was, and is, however, an issue with parking. For visitors looking for somewhere to stay,... More

We booked a double room and stayed for two nights. We got a twin room, which they apologized for and wasn't really a problem. Also we recived additional free wifi for free, very kind! Anyway, I wouldn't come back. The kitchen is disgusting (we decided to go out for dinner because we didn't want to cook in that dirty kitchen)... More

I came here in September intending to only stay for a week or two but have stayed for 3 months. I did the work for accommodation for a little while which was brilliant, not even doing 2 hours work a day for my accommodation for the night. We even all sat round and had tea and coffee with biscuits everyday.... More

we checked in the in late evening and fortunately had phoned them ahead. There are plenty of parking bays perhaps not much tourists during winter. This was the 1st BBH i checked in in NZ and i was amazed with the huge kitchen and facilities. Wifi did work and hot water available during shower. Heater in the dormitory was really... More

Well positioned but otherwise not great. WiFi didn't work and no hot water in the morning. The private en suite room one person in our group had was clean and fresh and the bed looked comfy. My room was basic.

This was our first stay at a backpackers, so we booked a private room. For $65/night it was a fantastic, no frills place to stay. Had all the essentials, common kitchen, lounge & games room with pool table & table tennis. Nothing fancy, no housekeeping etc, which is exactly what we wanted. Friendly staff & resident dog 😄

A very short walk from the main bus stop in Paihia lies the cosy centenary lodge. The hostel has a relaxed atmosphere and provides ample lounge/kitchen space as well as good sized dorms. Kayaks were free to borrow and limited free wifi was also available. Some of the bedding has seen better days but the lodge was clean and a... More

Really nice hostel in paihia, not on the main backpacker street but incredibly central! We were there in winter so it was pretty quiet but the staff were friendly and we got to rent canoes for free. Big, clean kitchen. Loads of movies available to watch in the two living areas. 1 hour free wifi. Dorm rooms were spacious (for... More
