We really enjoyed staying here. The owners are great, with good recommendations of where to go and what to see. The facilities are good (several small kitchens rather than one big one, reasonable bathroom) and the lounges and garden areas are comfortable. The double bedroom we had was quite small, but spotlessly clean (like the rest of the hostel) and... More

We had a lovely stay at a hostel type setting with lots of international students, we were the oldest by far but never felt self conscious!! Clare was our host after Fred left for South Sudan (yes, a Frenchman heading to doctors without borders). The star though is Jake. A couple nights later we thought we had left our passports... More

I stayed here for four days after staying in another hostel in Paihia which was awful. I walked in to Mousetrap and was so happy. Jake and Nikki are really hands on with the place and it shows. It's spotlessly clean with tea towels, cloths, shower mats etc all being replaced frequently. The four bed dorm I had was spacious... More

We stayed here for two nights in late December. The welcome was fine and we were pleased with the size of our double room. It is a backpackers accomodation so the bathroom facilities are shared. Everything was clean and there were plenty of plates/utensils in the kitchen. For the size of the place, there aren't very many toilets/showers, so if... More

Stayed here a year ago and booked it again for another stay in the Bay of Islands. As lovely and comfortable as I remember it. Lovely views of the sea form the lounges/verandah; convenient location; clean; friendly staff who are very welcoming; lovely atmosphere.

Easy walking distance to downtown. Friendly owner though felt like a lot of rules. I was in a shared room with 2 bunk beds which was clean along with the shared bathrooms. Only downside is the noise from the hostel across the street.

A great place yo stay in, such a charming hostel. Loved the deck area and the decor which makes this hostel so unique. Staff were helpful and able to get me on a dolphin trip at short notice. Wish I could stay longer , such a peaceful little town.

Owner gets upset if a Backpack is sitting on the ground instead of Locker. Owner enters the room without knocking, regularly. (was staying in a 4 bed dorm) He doesn't make an effort to be friendly. I didn't feel welcome from him at all, he's not a pleasant person. He treats guests like kids. That's the reason I wouldn't stay... More

This backpackers was called a 'quiet hostel' and it really was, people were very considerate, & you can retire early. It was cleaned daily & had 3 kitchens, so people weren't crowded. The weekends did have a lot of street/bar noise till 2 a.m.

This hostel was the best! First of all cheap as chips! We stayed for a week and it soon felt like home! The lounge is so cosy and they light the log burner at night. The kitchens are clean and well kitted out. The veranda is lovely to sit on and eat with a lovely sea view. Our room was... More
